TPI Polene Public Company, Thailand, has awarded ThyssenKrupp a 150 million euro contract to build a 10,000 ton-per-day cement clinker plant. Production in Saraburi, near the capital Bangkok, is scheduled to start in 2015. TPI Polene is one of the country’s top three cement producers and is a leader in the use of energy-efficient production technologies.

“This contract underlines our longstanding partnership with Thailand in the plant construction sector. We are delighted to be able to use our engineering expertise to support the Thai cement industry and serve the growing demand for cement with our energy-efficient facilities,” says Dr. Hans Christoph Atzpodien, CEO of the Industrial Solutions business area of ThyssenKrupp AG.

With domestic cement demand expected to reach 45 million tons a year by 2015, Thailand is an important market and production location in Southeast Asia.

Plant construction specialist ThyssenKrupp Resource Technologies is supplying major components for this contract, from raw material preparation and clinker production to cement grinding and fuel preparation. The plant control and quality monitoring and control systems will also be ThyssenKrupp products. After hand-over of the new production line, total capacity – including three lines supplied by ThyssenKrupp in the 1990s – will be twelve millions tons of cement per year.
