CFA Institute, the global association of investment professionals, has released the new version of its popular career development tool to help students and young professionals launch successful careers in the Asia-Pacific finance and investment industry.

The CFA Institute Asia-Pacific Career Guide (2014 edition) serves as a navigational tool for students, new entrants, and mid-career professionals looking to find or shift jobs in the finance and investment industry. The publication profiles the career paths of over 30 successful CFA charterholders from 16 countries and territories in Asia Pacific — how they started and progressed in the industry and their success stories. It provides overviews on 14 fields in the industry as well as professional career development advice such as how to use social media to advance one’s career and interview and resume-writing tips.

“In these challenging times, employers look for professionals who demonstrate not only first-rate skills and competence, but even more so integrity. The commitment to uphold the highest ethical and professional standards distinguishes CFA charterholders from others and leads them to accomplished careers,” says Paul Smith, CFA, managing director for Asia Pacific at CFA Institute. “We hope the stories of our charterholders in the Career Guide will inspire students and young professionals and help them chart their own successful careers. Our mission to shape a global investment and finance industry that benefits society relies on the values of the next generation of professionals.”

The Career Guide covers job roles in asset management, investment banking, compliance, private equity, research and analysis, corporate finance, financial advisory, treasury, development finance, performance measurement, and structured finance. The featured charterholders come from Australia, Bangladesh, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam.

The previous edition attracted over a million page views and 40,000 downloads. The Career Guide is a free publication available online and in print.
