Organizers report conference draws more than 350 registrants,

hope for resourceful solution to Zim rough exports conundrum

Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe – November 11, 2012: The organizers of the Zimbabwe Diamond Conference 2012, to be held November 12-13, in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, announced that more than 350 registrants are expected to fill the Kalala conference hall at the Elephant Hills Hotel to full capacity, with standing room only for authorized late-comers.

 The conference, which is organized by the Zimbabwe ministry of Mines and Mining Development, will feature a high-brow panel of Pan African government representatives, the chair of the Kimberley Process as well as by major movers and shakers in the international diamond industry.

 Ahmed Bin Sulayim, the Executive Chairman of the Dubai Multi Commodities Centre, said the DMCC was delighted to take an active part in the conference .

 “Dubai is perfectly positioned, both from an organizational as well as from a geographical viewpoint, to cooperate with the diamond producing nations in Africa. In the case of Zimbabwe, we are sharing our resources, ingenuity and initiative to assist Zimbabwe in removing the obstacles that are currently impeding upon diamond exports from the country. We are hopeful and confident that this conference, attended by so many major policy and decision makers in the international diamond industry, will lead to a resourceful solution to the country’s rough diamond export conundrum and play a pivotal role in advancing the Zimbabwean diamond industry and its national interests,” Bin Sulayim stated.
