(Munich, September 6, 2013) KraussMaffei still on a successful course with its WinCap mold carriers – Continuous demand for these products. The company recently delivered the 50th WinCap machine to an automotive component supplier in China. The electric mold carriers are used all over the world for glass surrounds.
Successful utilization
KraussMaffei engineered the first electric mold carriers for the automotive industry around six years ago. Over 100 machines are now being used successfully throughout the world, for example to encapsulate windows and glass covers, but also to backfoam interior trims and other automotive components. “The know-how and experience from more than 45 years of expertise in the area of reaction process machinery are incorporated in the further development of our electric mold carriers,” said Erich Fries, Head of the Composites/Surfaces Business Unit in the Reaction Process Machinery Segment of KraussMaffei in Munich. “As a technology leader, we develop innovative and individual solutions in combination with innovative machine technology. We will continue this strategy with great dedication and therefore enjoy further success in this area.”
Further improvements in ergonomics and functionality
The new WinCap mold carrier generation, which was substantially revamped in 2013, is very popular. The first four of these mold carriers will shortly be shipped to China together with the 50th machine for encapsulating windows. The upgraded mold carriers provide machine operators with additionally improved ergonomics and user-friendliness since all mold carrier movements and mold functions can be freely programmed via a touch panel. Three set positions of the lifting frame can be used for different mold heights. Large molds can also be moved quickly and securely by using a flat belt with a deflection roller for the lifting function. Workpieces can now be fixed even more easily to the carrier. The clamping force is generated pneumatically over the entire mold fixing area. The standardized modular design basically ensures short assembly and commissioning times.
Individual flexibility and adapted performance profile
Together with the reduced travel time due to the parallel mold carrier movements and the high travel speeds, short cycle times and high productivity are guaranteed for every application. The other advantages include low energy consumption and a low noise level thanks to electric drive units. The mold can also be changed from the front and back, and very little maintenance is required. Every mold carrier position can be set flexibly via the control cabinet. A large number of other equipment options, e.g. additional mold functions, different safety variants, customer-specific mold attachment or flexible adaptation to many different machine concepts complete the extensive performance profile of the WinCap series.
