Press Release

Kolkata, November 10: The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s vision of presenting an Analytics City to the state is well on its way to becoming a reality.

West Bengal Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd has published the RFP of Samriddhi – Analytics City in Kalyani – conceptualized by the Chamber – it is available on the link: http://www.wbhidcoltd.com/uploads/announcement/Ann303.pdf

The Bengal Chamber first envisioned positioning Kolkata as a “niche city” specializing in IT applications rather than only a traditional IT hub. A niche city would mean promoting a select skill-set, just as Silicon Valley in the USA is known to be the home of technology companies and start-ups.

Said Mr. Ambarish Dasgupta, President of the Chamber, “West Bengal may take advantage of the most happening of businesses all around the globe – Analytics. Kolkata (the capital of West Bengal) can ideally leverage its advantage of being home to intellectual manpower which is its unique attribute, backed by premier higher education institutions like IIT, ISI, IIEST, JU, IIM and others.”

The concept had previously been launched at the Chamber’s Business Analytics Innovation Summit, on 10th December 2014 in Taj Bengal, Kolkata. Renowned architect Mr. Dulal Mukherjee has drafted the blue print of the proposed city.

Said Mr. Dasgupta, “The Chamber has submitted the Concept Note and an Audio Visual Presentation both to the Government of West Bengal and to the potential investors (domestic and international) and has received a very positive response from both. The Department of Urban Development, Government of West Bengal has allocated 52 acres of land on Kalyani Expressway.” The project has been named ‘Samriddhi’ – Kalyani Analytics City. It received special mention during the recent visit of the Hon’ble Chief Minister to London.
