Vodafone India brings back Vodafone appStar – the 2nd edition of the annual app developer contest

Mumbai, October 16, 2014: Vodafone India, one of India’s leading telecommunications service providers, is back with its annual app developer contest bigger and better. – Vodafone appStar 2014.

 

Vodafone India had deployed the Vodafone Service Delivery Platform (SDP) last year, that exposes it’s Network APIs like Carrier billing, Location and more.

Vodafone India has now launched Vodafone appStar 2014 that provides a great opportunity for brands, e-tailers, online players and developers who specialise in apps for specific verticals to build and showcase their best apps using Vodafone Network APIs across categories: Gaming, Utility, Health, Education and App for Good. The best developers get a chance to win cash prizes of INR 50,000 in each category and an opportunity to visit the mecca of mobile community – Mobile World Congress, Barcelona.

The contest is open for all developers to build innovative and compelling apps across platforms: –Android, Windows Phone, iOS, J2ME, Blackberry. Developers can now leverage theVodafone network APIs like carrier billing and location that provides an enhanced opportunity to monetize and improve customer experience of their apps.

The Vodafone appStar contest will be held at two levels – India and International. The contest seeks to encourage apps, which are targeting specific consumer segment across various verticals. The winners of India round will stand a chance to participate in the international round that will be held in Bangalore.

The Vodafone appStar 2013 witnessed a tremendous response from app developers in India. The contest received over 3000 developer registrations and over 1500 app submissions.  Mobikwik and Kumi Labs were among the India finalists who won the 2nd place at international level.
