Vincent HS Lo Takes Up HKTDC Chairmanship

Mr Lo Meets Management Team, Prepares for Overseas Promotion

1 June 2015 – The new Chairman of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), Vincent HS Lo, began the first day of his term today by meeting with the management team.

 

Mr Lo said, “The HKTDC plays a significant role in helping to drive Hong Kong’s economic development by forging new frontiers, creating business opportunities and enhancing the competitiveness of our SMEs.

 

“I am honoured to be appointed Chairman of one of the best economic promotion organisations in the world, and am confident that the capable management team will continue their excellent work.”

 

In the first month of his Chairmanship, Mr Lo will officiate at the HKTDC’s flagship international promotion event “Think Asia, Think Hong Kong,” which will be held on 8 June in Toronto, Canada and 10 June in Chicago, United States.

 

Vincent Lo PortraitMr. Vincent Hong Sui Lo assumed Chairmanship of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) in June 2015. He is the founder and Chairman of the Shui On Group, which is principally engaged in property development, construction and construction materials with interests in Hong Kong and the Chinese Mainland. In addition to his business capacity, Mr. Lo has been active in community services. Prior to his recent position as Chairman of the Airport Authority Hong Kong, he had participated in the preparatory work of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR). He is currently a Member of The Twelfth National Committee of Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, President of the Council for the Promotion & Development of Yangtze, Economic Adviser of the Chongqing Municipal Government, Honorary Life President of the Business and Professionals Federation of Hong Kong. Mr. Lo was awarded the Gold Bauhinia Star (GBS) in 1998 and appointed Justice of the Peace in 1999 by the Government of the HKSAR. Other accolades include “Businessman of the Year” at the Hong Kong Business Awards in 2001, “Director of the Year Award” from The Hong Kong Institute of Directors in 2002, as well as Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres from the French government in 2005. In 2009, Mr. Lo was named “China Entrepreneur of the Year” and “Entrepreneur of the Year” in the China Real Estate Sector by global consultancy Ernst & Young. He was also given an “Honorary Citizen” of Shanghai in 1999 and Foshan in 2011. In 2012, the 4th World Chinese Economic Forum honoured Mr. Lo with the “Lifetime Achievement Award for Leadership” in the Property Sector.
