Following is the Highlight of the Green Growth Strategy MoU between the UK Government and Kolkata Municipal Corporation
First, preparation of a Roadmap for the low carbon and climate resilient development of Kolkata. This Roadmap will feed into the wider plans for the “Vision 2020” strategy for the city, being developed by the Municipal Corporation
Second, a programme of work to sensitise key stakeholders to issues relating to the green growth of Kolkata. This could bring in key members of Kolkata Municipal Corporation – councillors, members of Mayor-in-Council, departmental heads and personnel – as well as colleagues in the wider community
And third, strategies to strengthen the institutional capacity of Kolkata Municipal Corporation to implement the Roadmap and improve overall governance, helping the Corporation respond to the challenges and opportunities of climate change.
