Like a wistful reminder of the sixties and seventies eras – the super-trendy culottes are making a sartorial comeback this season. A reigning trend on the runway, it has seamlessly translated to a wearable look for fashionistas globally.

This pant-shorts hybrid is gaining major style momentum due to its fundamental versatility- slipping effortlessly into sleek work-wear, sporty luxe and neutral ensembles.  This uber-chic silhouette provides all the practicality of trousers, whilst retaining the appearance and femininity of a skirt.

Culottes have many advantages, not the least of which is its barbecue-to-black-tie versatility. They’re also transitional, the perfect piece to wear from winter into spring. You can sport culottes on date night, paired with a camisole and strappy heels, or clash jewel tones for an easy way to rock colour during the winter slump. Structured culottes can be balanced with a tailored blazer, and you can also give it a casual daytime flair with a graphic sweatshirt.

Global Desi’s A/W 2014 ‘London Calling’ Collection has incorporated this ‘abbreviated trouser’ in its signature eclectic prints and kaleidoscopic hues. A mind melting mix of colour and pattern, where winter layers go bigger and better, and power takes the easy route. These ornately printed renditions can be paired with a preppy shirts, crop tops, bomber jackets and urbane – chic cardigans.
