TOMÁS SARACENO: THE AEROCENE PROJECT

An in-depth survey of the Aerocene project

The work of architect and artist Tomás Saraceno is a perpetually ongoing research, informed by art, architecture, the natural sciences, astrophysics and engineering. Saraceno’s Aerocene — an open-source, multi-disciplinary project — consists of a series of airborne sculptures which the artist hopes will achieve the longest emissions-free journey around the world, kept aloft by only the heat of the sun and infrared radiation from the surface of the Earth. The project foregrounds the artistic and scientific exploration of environmental issues and promotes links between social, mental, and environmental ecologies. This book tells its story.
