National, November, 17th, 2016: Femina Salon & Spa, a readers’ guide on international beauty trends and a one stop destination for beauty professionals along with TIGI, a professional hair care brand, came together to co-create the first ever Hair Heroes, a national-scale platform to reward excellence in upcoming talent from the hair & salon industry. The 5 month long awards property concluded on 16th November amidst much grandeur with the announcement of 8 winners aptly titled ‘Hair Heroes’. The starry night also witnessed the glitterati walk the red carpet in support of the competing finalists.
The grand finale witnessed the talented hair stylists compete befittingly under 8 categories namely Street Style, Runway Reborn, Serious Glamour, Ultimate Upstyles, Color Me up, Retrosexual Men, Cut & Style Long Hair, Cut & Style Short Hair. After closely witnessing the strenuous rounds which saw some exemplary performances, the coveted panel of judges comprising Femina Salon & Spa Editorial Head Tanya Chaitanya, TIGI Regional Education Director Asia, Andy Cheong, renowned actress Aditi Rao Hydari celebrity make-up artist Ojas Rajani and celebrity photographer Vikram Bawa, announced 8 extraordinary Hair Heroes as the winners. Following hair stylists won the awards under respective categories : Jawed Pravez – Cut & Style long Hair, Pravina Jadhav – Retrosexual Men, Ashwani Kumar – Colour me up, Amit Tamang – Cut & Style Short Hair, Aksa Dumb – Street Style, Shweta Goyal – Serious Glamour, Madan Lal – Ultimate Upstyles and Noopur Chokshi – Runway Reborn.

Actor Cyrus Sahukar, being the host at the event kept the audience and the finalists on their toes with his funny anecdotes. Actors Arjun Rampal, Aditi Rao Hydari, Patralekhaa, Purab Kohli, Prateik Babbar, Divya Khosla Kumar, Kriti Kharbanda, Adah Sharma and Surveen Chawla added more glitz to the evening with their persona as they walked the red carpet. Amongst the celebrities present, Arjun Rampal, who is known for his timeless sense of style, was felicitated with the ‘Style Icon’ award.
As a mega gratification ‘Inspirational Youth ‘award (hairstylist winner with minimum of one year of experience), Amit Tamang was chosen especially by the jury to fly down to the London TIGI academy and be trained by a TIGI trainer of international acclaim. Additionally he/she has also been provided an opportunity to style the Femina Salon & Spa Magazine Cover. The other 7 category winners will be trained by experts from TIGI within India.
The awards property, extending over the duration of over 5 months, began with zonal rounds, where hair professionals from across India with a minimum of 2 – 3 years’ experience in the salon industry working full time were entitled to participate. The zonal training was imparted by TIGI experts and was conducted across four zones – Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Bengaluru.
