The Prophet on stage

Montegrappa is immensely proud of its association with Kahlil Gibran and his literary masterpiece, The Prophet. Following the creation of a collection of limited edition writing instruments, Italy’s oldest maker of fine pens participated in a series of related events, culminating in the long-awaited transition of The Prophet from page to stage to screen.

Rest Upon The Wind: 14th – 18th April, 2015

Montegrappa presented the play Rest Upon The Wind, live in the UAE from 14th – 18th of April. The play, inspired by life and times of Kahlil Gibran, was written and directed by the acclaimed actor of numerous box office hit movies, Nadim Sawalha. Sawalha’s play celebrates the Arab sense of humour and family warmth through the relationship of Gibran and his sister Miryanna as they struggle to survive in America. The tale culminates in a mix of drama, comedy and a profound journey of self-discovery. With original sound and score from award-winning composer Jules Deering, the production boasts stunning visuals, breath-taking music and captivating performances from a six-strong West End London cast.

On the 19th of April, 2015, to wrap up the play, Montegrappa, in association with Dubai International Writer’s Center and Gibran National Committee, hosted a cultural celebration in the Shidhagha historical neighbourhood in Dubai.

The evening witnessed the presence of distinguished personalities including:

Dr. Tarek Chidiac – President of Gibran National Committee,  Mr. George Kordahi – Media authority and TV presenter,  Mr. Giuseppe Aquila –  CEO of Montegrappa Italia, Mr. Charles Nahhas – MD of Montegrappa Middle East, Mr. Haytham Nasr – Marketing and Operations Director of Montegrappa Middle East as well as Executive Producer of the Hollywood production of Gibran’s most celebrated work, The Prophet, Ms. Christine Belbelian – Founding member of the Emirates Opera Project, and last but not least  Ms. Katya Traboulsi – the renowned Lebanese artist and designer of the Montegrappa Kahlil Gibran Prophet pen.

In fact just a month earlier, Montegrappa launched the Kahlil Gibran limited edition pens at the Emirates Airline Festival of Literature. The Gibran pens are made with a view to support the legacy of the legendary poet, with a share of the sales going to the Gibran National Committee (GNC) in Bsharreh, Gibran’s hometown in Lebanon.  They boast of hand-painted lacquered barrels and caps, using an overlay of precious metal over the iconic paintings – a technique never used before. These exclusive writing instruments are made in sterling silver or 18K solid gold. The fountain pen nibs are made of 18K solid gold and bear the famous face believed by many to be Gibran’s ultimate self-portrait.
