New Delhi/ New York, April 18, 2017: St. John’s University (SJU) in New York City, America’s top fourth university for ethnic diversity,  has launched its first-ever Global Innovators Academy (GIA) Summer Program for international high school students aged 15-18 years. SJU has partnered with BrainGain Magazine, a leading digital online magazine on studying abroad and international student mobility. GIA is now inviting applications for this two-week summer program, which will take place from July 23 to August 5, 2017 at SJU’s Queens campus in New York City. For nearly 150 years, SJU has had a global reputation for excellence and celebrating diversity through a rich value-based education. Its faculty ranks among The Princeton Review’s top 300 professors in the U.S.

Christina Quartararo, Executive Director of The Language Connection at St. John’s University says, “We are delighted to collaborate with BrainGain magazine to launch our Global Innovators Academy for high school students. BrainGain has a global reach of over 10 million international students and has a proven expertise in launching and growing reputed study-abroad programs for high school students. The program aligns with the University’s commitment to offering quality international education experiences.”

The two-week GIA summer program costs US $3975 per students which includes tuition, accommodation on SJU’s Queen’s campus, all meals, medical insurance and entry to all off-campus activities and venues, but excludes airfare, visa costs and travel insurance. Applications for St. John University’s GIA summer program can be submitted online.

“We are excited to collaborate with St. John’s University for the GIA summer program”, says Harjiv Singh, Founder & Publisher, BrainGain Magazine. He further added, “A recent OECD study predicts that the number of international students could reach 8 million by 2025 which will roughly be a 60% increase in comparison to the number of students studying abroad today. Such summer programs offer a sneak preview of what to expect in an undergraduate experience on a U.S. campus and give students an early head start in their college applications. We aim to expand our partnership with more and more universities for such programs that offer high school students a depth of choices for undergraduate admissions at universities in U.S.”

The Global Innovators Academy will organize daily workshops for the students to educate them on the nature and genesis of innovation, with a focus on New York City as an innovation incubator. The participants will also be coached in effective public speaking and presentation skills. The lectures will be given by faculty from SJU’s College of Professional Studies. Apart from this, the program is enriched with extracurricular activities which include community service, excursions to some of New York City’s many cultural landmarks like Times Square and Six Flags Great Adventure, and on-campus team-building activities. Students will be awarded certificates from St. John’s Global Innovators Academy on the successful completion of the program.
