Rituparno Ghosh’s first book “FIRST PERSON” Unveiled

Kolkata: Dey’s publishing pays tribute to late Rituparno Ghosh, a versatile Actor, Director, Editor and Columnist, by launching his first book First Person posthumously. The book is published by Dey’s Publishing and has been edited by Ms Neela Bandhopadhyay. The event was graced by eminent personalities like poet Joy Goswami, Eminent Film and Theatre Scholar & Critic Samik Bandyopadhyay, Author Sibaji Bandhopadhyay, MP Srinjoy Bose, Editor Neela Bandhopadhyay, Singer turned Actor Anindya Chattopadhyay (Editor of Robbar after Rituparno) and many others.

The grand event was hosted by Actor Rahul Banerjee in the august presence of other renowned persons like Director Raja Sen,Director cum Actress Sudeshna Roy, Actress Priyanka Sarkar, and Actor Tota Roy Chowdhury.

The book was unveiled by Film and Theatre Scholar & Critic Samik Bandyopadhyay and was then handed over to Rituparno Ghosh’s brother, Indranil Ghosh, who is a well-known Art Director.

The book First Person is a basically a culmination of a weekly column named First Person by director Rituparno Ghosh. The book, which comes in two individual volumes, comprises of columns Ghosh used to write for a weekly magazine named ‘Robbar’. The ace director Rituparno Ghosh was the editor of the same.

Ms. Neela Bandhopadhyay, Editor of the newly launched book First Person said on this occasion, “I am honored that Ritu da had involved me in this journey and I feel great to categorize his write ups in 12 sections. Though the legend is no more with us but his book will help us catch a glimpse of our favourite Ritu da.” Meanwhile, poet Joy Goswami voiced his comments on this launch, “Ritu’s First Person will make him remembered for years to come”.

The event was followed by late Rituparno Ghosh’s first documentary film “Bande Mataram”.
