RFEL achieves certified membership of Xilinx Alliance Program RFEL at DPRT 2012, 21 November 2012, University of the West of England, Bristol, UK

Newport, Isle of Wight, UK – 31 October 2012 – RFEL, who specializes in high performance electronic signal processing solutions, has achieved Certified Membership status in the Xilinx Alliance Program, only one of 26 companies in Europe to do so.

“Certified Members have to demonstrate a high level of expertise in the latest Xilinx products,” said Ian Ventress, Engineering Manager at RFEL “Our engineers have worked hard to pass through the certification process in extremely short order after joining the alliance program only this summer. The advanced qualification means that they have passed the same rigorous training as Xilinx Field Engineering worldwide. Their expertise will be a valuable resource for customers of Xilinx products to help them achieve the very best performance.”

Dr Alex Kuhrt, RFEL’s CEO, added, “The certification process not only ensures that our FPGA design engineers have achieved a high level of knowledge of the latest Xilinx products but also that the company itself is certified as following best practices. As we do a lot of military work, we already have in place very rigorous QA and security procedures that have met the approval of defense and governmental customers around the world.”

RFEL will be at DPRT 2012 on booth 29 demonstrating its range of off-the-shelf solutions available for customers, along with examples of other work that has been carried out for electronic warfare, surveillance, radar and counter intelligence applications. “Our skill at producing solutions that are faster, smaller and less power hungry make us the company of choice for government agencies and the military wanting ultrafast, digital signal processing,” explained Dr. Kuhrt. “Our key skill is being able to see all of the spectrum, all of the time. So, for example, we can follow a signal that is trying to hide by hopping around the spectrum or spot the signal signature of an incoming threat fast enough for counter measures to be deployed. When every fraction of a second counts, we can make the difference between life and death. And by using the latest FPGAs, we can create solutions in one chip, which would otherwise require racks of computers to do, and so save space, weight and power. “

The Xilinx Alliance Program

This is a worldwide ecosystem of qualified companies collaborating with Xilinx to help customers develop products faster and with confidence on Targeted Design Platforms. Leveraging open platforms and standards, Xilinx has built this ecosystem to meet customer needs and is committed to its long-term success. Comprised of FPGA IP providers, EDA vendors, embedded software providers, system integrators, and hardware suppliers, Alliance members help accelerate the design process while minimizing risk.
