Railway Revenue Earnings up by 25.92 per cent during the period 1st – 10th October 2012

The total approximate earnings of Indian Railways on originating basis during the period from 1st to 10th October 2012 were Rs. 3131.75 crore compared to Rs. 2487.17 crore during the same period last year, registering an increase of 25.92 per cent.

The total goods earnings have gone up from Rs. 1625.05 crore during the period from 1st to 10th October 2011 to Rs. 2179.45 crore during 1st to 10th October 2012, showing an increase of 34.12 per cent. The total passenger revenue earnings during the period 1st to 10th October 2012 were Rs 839.10 crore compared to Rs. 758.08 crore during the same period last year, showing an increase of 10.69 per cent. The revenue earnings from other coaching amounted to Rs. 83.80 crore during this period compared to Rs. 74.26 crore during the same period last year, showing an increase of 12.85 per cent.

The total approximate numbers of passengers booked during the period 1st to 10th October 2012 were 251.67 million compared to 230.89 million during the same period last year, showing an increase of 9.00 per cent. In the suburban and non-suburban sectors, the numbers of passengers booked during 1st to 10th October, 2012 were 141.25 million and 110.42 million compared to 122.09 million and 108.80 million during the same period last year, registering an increase of 15.69 per cent and 1.49 per cent respectively.
