Indian society supports homo social behavior but its perception about homosexuality is contradictory
New Delhi, October 31, 2017: Manvendra Singh Gohil, Goodwill Ambassador of AIDS Healthcare Foundation, gave insights on the Indian society’s notion about homosexuality at the prestigious TEDx talks. The event was independently organised by Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies, Delhi University today.
Manvendra spoke about the presence of homosexuality since the bygone era while stating that the LGBTQ community is yet to be completely accepted within the democratic framework and is plagued by a lack of awareness amongst people. Manvendra reiterated that the recent right to privacy judgment by Supreme Court of India will pave a way to revoking the draconian section 377 of IPC. Manvendra took the audience through a journey which showcased the changing mind-set of the society from being homophobic towards being accepting and understanding. He engaged the audience by using real life examples and experiences.
With the theme ‘Deconstruct’, TEDx SSCBS aimed at cutting open some complex topics, dissecting them to the core and understanding their actual implication.
