PORT ALERT: Crew travel warning – Papal visit to New York & Philadelphia

inchcapelogo1Crew travel warning – Papal visit to New York & Philadelphia

Inchcape Shipping Services (ISS) is warning of potential issues with crew travel during the official Papal visit to New York and Philadelphia from 24 to 27 September 2015.

Hotel rooms in the area are already fully booked ahead of the visit by Pope Francis, while the closure of key highways and bridges as well as reduced travel lanes and an estimated 150,000-250,000* additional vehicles travelling though New Jersey will cause road traffic disruption. Flights are also unavailable.

Vessel traffic at this time is not expected to be impacted during the Papal visit, with the exception of crew travel issues, but this could change as final security measures are announced.

ISS North & Central America will continue to monitor developments and keep its clients updated.
