– Appearance at K 2013 trade show under the motto “Trendgineering”
(Munich/Düsseldorf, October 16, 2013) At the K 2013 trade show in Düsseldorf (October 16 to 23, 2013, hall 15, booth B27/C24/C27/D24), KraussMaffei Berstorff will present the KM-7L-RKW 01-32, the multi-layer pipehead capable of producing pipes with more layers than any other in the product portfolio. In combination with the new, KME 30-30 B/R coextruder, the concept guarantees a constant output unaffected by counter-pressure, as well as outstanding product quality for seven-layer pipes.
Modular design for seven-layer, multi-functional pipes
The demand for complex pipes with a number of functional layers is rising constantly. KraussMaffei Berstorff has reacted to this trend with its intelligent pipehead system, which produces up to seven layers. “What is special about our new pipehead is its modular design, which comprises between two and seven radial distributors with various spiral inflows,” explains Peter Roos, President of the Extrusion Technology segment and of the KraussMaffei Berstorff brand. “As a result, we can achieve the lowest possible tolerances in the production of each individual layer. We support extrusion shops in their efforts to achieve sustainable production, since this allows material consumption to be reduced in expensive, thin layers such as barrier or adhesion-promoting layers,” explains Roos. Extrusion shops additionally benefit from the competitive edge afforded by a wide range of advantages. For instance, the modular design principle allows the processing system to be adapted quickly, say from producing seven layers to producing five or three layers. Moreover, improved flow-channel technology leads to short flushing times. The exhibit is designed for outputs of up to 500 kg/h for a diameter range of between 8 and 32 mm.
Excellent product quality with the KME 30-30 B/R coextruder
In combination with the new KME 30-30 B/R coextruder, KraussMaffei Berstorff’s pipehead concept guarantees outstanding product quality. The single-screw extruder is designed with a grooved bush, which results in a constant throughput unaffected by counter-pressure. The model also allows for excellent mixing and a high degree of plasticization, affording outstanding benefits for extrusion shops, such as very good thermal homogeneity and first-class melt quality. This exhibit – with an output of up to 50 kg/h – is the finishing touch to our product portfolio in the middle and lower output range.
