Peru Travel Mart Tourism Business event concludes successfully

Mumbai, 19th May 2015: With a record negotiation cypher close to S/.115 million (about US$37 million), the 22nd Peru Travel Mart (PTM 2015) concluded on Sunday, Peru’s Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism and President of  the Export  and  Tourism  Promotion  Board (PROMPERÚ) Magali Silva revealed.

Peru Travel Mart (PTM 2015) is the most important annual event for tourism promotion in Peru. It took place on May 15 – 17 and was attended by 279 travel buyers, amid 163 international and 116 national travel buyers, a record number of participants.

 

“The success has been possible thanks to the extraordinary work carried out jointly by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Promperu, and the National Chamber of Tourism (Canatur).  Public and private sector have shown the high touristic standards that Peru has to offer to the world, without loosing our uniqueness”, Minister told.

 

On the other hand, Jorge Jochamowitz, President of the National Chamber of Tourism (Canatur), confirmed the presence of international buyers from Italy, France, Holland, Belgium, Germany, Russia, New Zealand, Australia, India, China and Israel. Likewise, buyers from Mexico Panama, United States, Argentina, Colombia, Ecuador, Bolivia, Venezuela, Costa Rica, Chile, Brazil, and Paraguay.

 

He went on to express his satisfaction with regard to results obtained by having engaged in business with representatives from remote countries for the first time, as were Israeli clients, whose participation was pointed out.

 

According the Canatur official, the Middle Eastern country representatives take home the “best touristic concept with regard to service quality, service to the visitors and hotel infrastructure.

Peru Travel Mart (PTM 2015) included social activities where negotiators could meet local entrepreneurs and visit Lima City’s main attractions, including enjoying its folklore and gastronomy as well.

The seminars in this event were oriented toward the diffusion of a greater knowledge of Peru as a destination, as well as of the tools to be used for this purpose.

 

Local governments, decentralized organizations, hotels, tour operators, cruise lines, and transportation companies, websites, museums, airlines, insurance and telephone companies were also present at the event, whose next edition will be held in Lima on May 13-15 2016.

 

Peru is one of the most important tourist destinations worldwide, a destination on great growth by international demand. Recently, the Andean country climbed 15 positions in the Travel & Tourism Competitiveness Report 2015, elaborated by the World Economic Forum.

 

It advances to position 58th (out of a total of 147 economies) after being ranked 73rd, the National Society of Industries reported. Among Latin America and Caribbean nations, it was ranked 7th (out of a total of 17). As well, Peru was placed 9th among the Top 10 Most Tourism-ready Economies of South and Central America.
