Oxford University Press to showcase its print, digital and blended learning solutions at the New Delhi World Book Fair 2017

Thursday, 09 January, New Delhi: Oxford University Press (OUP), the world’s largest university press, will participate at the New Delhi World Book Fair to be held from 7th to 15th January at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi. OUP will showcase its vast range of print books, digital and blended learning solutions at stall numbers 179-202 in hall 18, which will also incorporate a digital corner.

Visitors to the OUP stall at the World Book Fair will have a chance to look at OUP’s education, reference and academic titles covering a wide range of subjects and domains, including children’s books, adult English learning material, college textbooks and general reads, journals and academic books covering subjects such as economics, medicine, sociology, politics and social sciences among others. OUP will also showcase its globally respected range of dictionaries, as also it’s more recently launched integrated learning solution for schools viz. Oxford Advantage.

Speaking about OUP’s participation in the New Delhi World Book Fair 2017, Sivaramakrishnan V, Managing Director, OUP India said “OUP is delighted to be a part of the 25th edition of the New Delhi World Book Fair. OUP will organize events and panel discussions on contemporary themes and subjects for the benefit of book fair visitors. The details of the two prominent panel discussions are below:

Emerging Trends in Hospitality – Role of Talent, Technology and Culinary Skills. Panellists include:

Oxford University Press will also organize two interesting quiz competitions for book fair visitors to engage with them and spread awareness on dictionary usage and English language learning. The Dictionary quiz will be organized on Tuesday, 10 January from 3:00-5:00pm, while the Common Errors in English quiz will take place on Friday, 13 January from 3:00-5:00. Both competitions are open for general public and will be organized within the OUP stall space in hall 18.

The digital corner at the OUP stall will enable book fair visitors to experience some of OUP’s world-leading learning solutions viz. Oxford Advantage and Epigeum. Oxford Advantage, is an integrated learning solution designed to provide schools with a comprehensive suite of educational materials and services. This solution is based on a distinctive approach that is centred on the concept of integrated or blended learning – its modules are designed to be cross-disciplinary, theme and activity-based, and aid conceptual learning.

Epigeum, is the leading provider of exceptional online courses designed to help universities and colleges transform their core activities – in teaching, research, studying and leadership and management. Its courses are developed through global collaboration of experts and partner universities and shared by subscription. Epigeum has developed more than 78 online courses in collaboration with world’s leading academic and research institutions. Epigeum, originally a spin out from Imperial College London was acquired by Oxford University Press in May 2015 and launched in India in 2016.

Other key displays and initiatives planned in 2017

Oxford Ink, My Learning Ladder, World of Colours and Young Einstein are among some interesting Children’s books that will be exhibited at the New Delhi World Book Fair for the first time. OUP’s bilingual English learning material, for young adults desirous of learning English in their mother tongue, too will be on display – these include bilingual grammar books, dictionaries and books on specific career streams.

OUP’s Global Academic business will pre-launch some of its critically acclaimed books in e-book format in 2017. As a result of this initiative, OUP’s bestselling academic reference books will be instantly downloadable from top e-book retailers in India, enabling easy and quick access to quality resources. Plans are also afoot to launch the Indian Languages Publishing Programme (ILPP), an initiative to translate OUP’s rich academic and research content into Indian languages. Launching in early 2018, with Hindi and Bangla in the first phase, OUP will publish books of renowned authors as R.S. Sharma, Romila Thapar, Sumit Ganguly, Pratap Bhanu Mehta, Austin Granville, Amartya Sen, Badri Narayan,

Jairam Ramesh, Bhikhu Parekh, among others. The ILPP initiative will bring OUP’s scholarly books within easy reach of the vast number of vernacular language readers of India. More information on the e-books and ILPP programme will be available with OUP representatives at the book fair.
