Ola slashes fares by 30% in Hyderabad; rides at just Rs.7/km

  • Customers can book Ola Mini at just Rs.7/km and Sedan at Rs.9/km

  • Ola Share is available starting as low as Rs.4 per km in the city

olaHyderabad, February 6, 2016: Ola, India’s leading mobile app for transportation, today announced a major reduction of fares by 30% in the city of Hyderabad. With this reduction, citizens in Hyderabad can book an Ola Mini at just Rs.7 per kilometer against existing fares of Rs.10 per kilometer. Ola Sedan fares have also been reduced and to Rs.9 per kilometer. Further, with Ola Share, which was recently introduced in Hyderabad, users can travel starting at as low as Rs.4 per km sharing their rides with fellow users from social groups they are part of.

Ravi Teja, Business Head, Telangana and AP at Ola said, “Hundreds of thousands of users in Hyderabad prefer Ola for their daily mobility needs. We are committed to enabling convenient and reliable transportation at economical fares for users. Over the past year, we have seen a significant increase in demand that is driving better utilization for driver partners in the city. We are able to pass on the benefits of these efficiencies to customers in the form of fares that are as low as Rs.4 per km.”

Ola currently has over 28,000 vehicles across its three categories viz., Mini, Sedan and Prime in Hyderabad, in addition to auto rickshaws and TaxiforSure cabs on its app. Increased availability across categories has enabled ETAs as low as 5 minutes, for customers to get a cab through Ola’s mobile app. This has in turn minimized the number of dry/unpaid trips for drivers. Economies of scale and operational efficiencies have ensured that on one hand, more customers are able to get a cab through Ola’s mobile app at reduced fares and on the other hand, drivers are able to do more paid trips every day.

The company recently launched Ola Share, India’s first of its kind social ridesharing solution in Hyderabad. With Share, colleagues from a workplace or friends from a college can come together to share rides amongst themselves. As soon as a user requests a Share ride on the Ola app, they will be matched with other users from their groups along their way. Users stand to benefit from saving up to 50% on fares with Ola Share to as low as Rs.4/km.

Ola launched its services in Hyderabad in April 2014 and has since transformed the way people travel within the city. With an extensive range of on-demand transportation solutions, Ola compliments the existing transport infrastructure in Hyderabad, as the largest mobility service provider.
