1st July 2015, New Delhi: –New Delhi Rising and Delhi I Love You are LAUNCHING AN AWARENESS VIDEO ON JULY 2nd 2015. Through the video we want to create awareness that everyone could participate in spot fixing.
Dirty and dilapidated streets, heaps of papers, plastic bags and bottles are what you see every day on the streets of Delhi. You may feel helpless, and as a society we are still far from having found a solution. What if you could change this? What if you stopped feeling bad and start acting for a positive change?
New Delhi Rising is a group of active citizen volunteers that have been involved with restoring and reclaiming public spaces in several parts of New Delhi for the past year.
On July 2nd, New Delhi Rising and Delhi I Love You, will release a tutorial video to encourage everyone to organize and participate in a spotfix in the next 3 months.
‘Spotfixing’ is a group of citizens who come together on a Sunday morning and clean a particular location of their city. This is done after informing the Municipal Corporation and other relevant authorities (PWD, DDA) in a spirit of civilian collaboration to change our city for the better.
Volunteers are the core of this initiative. All ‘spot fixes’ are executed using cost effective supplies and each volunteer contributes a fixed amount of Rs. 100/- at the end of a ‘spot fix’. We hope that the tutorial video will inspire and encourage people to take up this initiative and help us achieve the goal we have set to make a visible impact on Delhi.

New Delhi Rising is an anonymous group of active citizen volunteers restoring and reclaiming public spaces in several parts of New Delhi. The mission of New Delhi Rising is to reclaim and restore public spaces in Delhi. This involves understanding the mind set of common citizens, having constructive discussions with locals and offering focused solutions that can be sustained over longer periods of time.
New Delhi Rising also believes that it is critical to collaborate with civic authorities to improve the ugly areas of our city. Each resident must take responsibility while working with the authorities hand-in-hand to ensure upkeep of their city.
Additionally, New Delhi Rising collaborates with other organizations to create sustainable solutions. For instance, at the Janak Puri disctrict centre, New Delhi Rising and Delhi Street Art worked together to reclaim the amphitheatre area.
About DILY – Delhi I Love You
Delhi, I love you – DILY, is a 30 months cultural and social movement in Delhi. At the crossroads of art, film, social initiatives and the city, the movement is aimed at garnering a positive image for Delhi. The movement will promote the city: its artists, its dreamers, its poets, and simply its people and their initiatives that make the CITY we love so special, through a series of 120 events.
Each event is based on one pillar: Connection. Each event has to be created between different bodies who have never worked together – and at the same time, connect all the neighborhoods of the city together, in an attempt to break the invisible barriers between North, South, East and West Delhi.
