Nayati Healthcare Chairperson NiiraRadia said“India is grappling with lifestyle diseases such as hypertension, stroke, obesity and diabetes and the incidence of diabetes are exorbitantly high in this region. It is time we take concerted action to prevent and treat this potentially fatal disease which has reached epidemic proportions.  We areplanning to create a specialized diabetic clinic in the hospital soon to provide complete holistic diabetic care to our patients. This World Health Day lets beat together the spread of this preventable epidemic.”

“We are organizing a free Health Check-up and special discounts on certain investigative tests for diabetes. Through this initiative we intend to increase awareness about this growing epidemic and urge the communities to adopt healthy living“she further added.

Dr. Jyoti Goyal, Head of Dept.,Internal Medicine stated “Diabetes in India has become an exorbitantly growing large public health problem.Sedentary lifestyles coupled with sugary, salty and fatty diets rich in refined carbohydrates are driving the epidemic, which in the region affects primarily those in their productive prime. Managing diabetes needs a holistic approach – that not only manages diabetes efficiently but also prevents the complications of the disease. “

World Health Day this year focuses on diabetes and calls for scaling up efforts to prevent, care for and detect the disease to arrest the global epidemic which is hitting the low and middle income countries the most. Nearly 90 per cent of all diabetes cases are of Type 2 diabetes, largely the result of excess bodyweight and physical inactivity. Type 2 Diabetes is both preventable and treatable if detected early and, if not properly managed, the disease causes serious damage to every major organ in the body, resulting in heart attack, stroke, blindness , kidney and nerve damage.
