nando'sjoined hands with Sustainable Green Initiative to plant 200 trees in Holy Family hospital

New Delhi: June 2, 2016: Skipping all traditional ways of cards and flowers, Nando’s India earlier this month paid a tribute to all mother’s in a never done before activity for Mother’s day. The idea was simple, to plant a tree in one’s Mother’s name and by doing so thank Mother Earth.

Nando’s tied up with Sustainable Green Initiative, an organization that plants fruit trees and also nurtures and cares for these trees during their growth period. The mechanics were simple; all you had to do was register on initiative’s microsite or Nando’s India Twitter page or drop in at one of the restaurants for registration.

In total 200 participants registered in gifting their mother a tree in her name. The initiative saw emotional, funny, caring and excited participants from all over Delhi NCR with their heart touching messages for their mothers and showcasing the emotion of being able to contribute to Mother Nature.Handing over momento to Mothers Momento 2 Planting Tree

Nando’s together with Sustainable Green Initiative took the responsibility to protect and thank our Mother Earth, the plantation drive has not only helped raise public environmental awareness but also made our mother’s feel special.”

Participants penned down their heartfelt messages for their mothers, “You watched us grow, now we will watch you”, Anonymous, Gurgaon.

This occasion became much grander when mothers received a handmade paper frame with a picture of the sapling along with steel plate carrying the wish and Mother’s name inscribed on it. The moment saw an overwhelming response from all mothers, which was captured on camera while receiving memento at their doorstep.

Speaking on the occasion, Raj Mohan, Founder Sustainable Green Initiative said, “Trees make a lot of difference but fruit trees make a little more difference. Since the beginning our objective was to plant fruit trees so that something goes back to people, birds and bees.”
