Delhi, 12th December 2013: As a part of Meru Cabs Foundation’s initiative to bring about more awareness on the importance of education. Meru announced special scholarships to the bright and promising children in Delhi. Meru believes that education forms the foundation of a civil society and plays an important role in the formative years of a person’s life. An educated and informed individual is always respected in the society, and employment opportunities come through easily to them. Many of Meru drivers have realized this fact and hence strive to provide good education for their children.
The function included scholarship distribution to at least 14 children who have scored 80% and above which would be awarded to the candidates in the form of cheques. The scheme aims to honour the bright children of drivers who have scored more than 70% marks as a basic requirement to qualify in standard 10th & 12th level, and also appreciate those drivers who value the importance of education for their children. The DSE Scholarship Program- Delhi chapter was conducted on 7th Dec, 2013 at Hotel ITC Welcom, Dwarka, New Delhi. A total of 8 children of DSEs were awarded these scholarships.
According to Mr. Siddhartha Pahwa, CEO, Meru Cabs, “With this initiative, we have taken a small step in the direction of encouraging higher education in our driver community by launching scholarship schemes for their children who are pursuing higher education. Through this endeavor we intend to generate a desire amongst the kids of these hard working drivers to work hard on their academics and become eligible for this scholarship. It also encourages them to excel and make their parents proud
