The Hague, February 22, 2016 – Cassini, a pioneer in the development of superior eye diagnostic solutions, announces today that Mark Packer MD FACS CPI has joined the company as Chief Medical Officer.

Since the launch of Cassini Total Corneal Astigmatism (TCA) in 2015, leading refractive-cataract surgeons have demonstrated how the unique color LED ray tracing technology enables them to achieve better surgical outcomes. Cassini TCA brings instantaneous imaging of the posterior corneal surface to determine the true total corneal astigmatism and eliminate post-op surprises in the quest for “LASIK like” surgical cataract outcomes.

Jeroen Cammeraat, CEO and co-founder of Cassini comments “With Cassini TCA we not only demonstrate above 90% performance defined as a post-op residual refractive cylinder below 0,5D. But we have also created a solution that speeds up and tremendously simplifies the workflow for the surgeon”.

With Cassini integrated as the pre-op diagnostic platform with the Lensar Streamline laser, the company provides a seamlessly integrated image-guided femto-laser procedure. With its unique imaging capabilities, Cassini generates total corneal astigmatism information and iris registration needed to manage cyclo-rotation and deliver femto guided arcuate incisions to successfully treat astigmatism. Jeroen comments “It’s our strategy to not only deliver true diagnostic data of the total cornea allowing surgeons to achieve the best possible patient results. But also to integrate our technology with other companies to offer the fastest, most optimized workflow. Our partnerships with companies such a Lensar, Leica, TrueVision and others successfully demonstrate that our technology is a key enabler of achieving these objectives without compromise”.

Recent Cassini data presented by leading surgeons at this years Osher’s meeting (Naples, FL), Hawaiian Eye (Kona, HI), Caribbean Eye (Cancun, Mexico), and Innovative Techniques meeting (Park City, UT) confirmed the outstanding clinical performance of Cassini, comparability with (ORA) intra-operative aberrometry, and the clinical and workflow benefits of Cassini guided femto-laser procedures.

Mark Packer MD comments on his appointment, “I am thrilled to join the Cassini management team as we develop and demonstrate groundbreaking diagnostic technology.   Our goal is to enable surgeons to achieve superior outcomes and enhance vision for patients.”

About Cassini, an i-Optics company

Cassini pioneers smart and superior eye diagnosis solutions that are affordable, fast and user-friendly for care providers worldwide to serve their patients best.

Cassini Total Corneal Astigmatism helps cataract surgeons to better understand corneal properties in order to improve outcomes and increase premium patient volume. Cassini offers a full suite of examinations required for toric and multifocal IOL implantation. This includes corneal topography, mesopic and photopic pupillometry as well as full color photography for diagnostic purpose. The technology employs red, green and yellow LEDs that are each positioned in a unique relationship to four of its neighbors, giving each one a ’gps-like’ coordinate. Cassini uses the ray-tracing principle to measure the relative position of each point, using the three different colors as ‘triangulation’ points.
