Bangalore, April 20, 2016: On the occasion of Ambedkar Jayanti, four students of Maya Academy of Advanced Cinematics (MAAC) released a short film paying tribute to the father of Indian constitution.

The 3.20 minute, motion graphic film called Dr. B.R. Ambedkar – Jewel in India’s crown has been made by the four students of MAAC Bangalore, with assistance from Ravi Kiran, Technical Faculty, MAAC Indiranagar; and were mentored by Amit Dang, Zonal Academics Head – (South), MAAC.

The film was released on 16th April at Bangalore during an event organized by Bangalore Political Action Committee (BPAC) to celebrate the 125th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar.

The Film was screened at UB City Mall Bangalore and in the presence of Padmashree Mohan Das Pai, Vice Chairman BPAC; Brand Consultant, Harish Bijoor; actor Prakash Belwadi; and many other luminaries.

Paying tribute to Babasaheb, Shajan Samuel, Senior Vice President, MAAC said, “Dr Ambedkar’s ideals are as relevant today as they were 60 years ago. His life has been about challenge, courage and change. There is something for everybody to learn from the life and teachings of B.R. Ambedkar. As the man who emancipated the untouchables and other depressed classes and freed them from the 2,000-year-old curse, Ambedkar’s stature in India is unparallel. B.R. Ambedkar’s message and work through his life will never drown in the cacophony of time.”

“Animation has been one of the mediums of creative expressions and it was about time we acknowledge his selfless contribution through a small animation film made by MAAC Students. This film made by the students is in motion graphics and required them to do a lot of research on his work before writing the script,” he added.

Padmashree Mohan Das Pai Vice Chairman BPAC said, “Dr Ambedkar’s life is a testimony to the fact that nobody can come in the way of an indomitable human will, hard work, intellectual excellence and the power of an idea! He suffered severe discrimination yet rose to the top through sheer talent. He is a role model for all Indians and his life story should be taught at all schools so that our future generations will be inspired by him and live their dreams, with Dr Ambedkar as their hero.”

Congratulating the students, Anil Shetty, renowned social entrepreneur and board member of BPAC said, “Babasaheb’s journey from being an untouchable to become the father of Indian Constitution is ever inspiring. The essence of his life story is beautifully depicted in this animation film. I congratulate MAAC and appreciate the effort of the team in presenting Dr. B.R. Ambedkar to the newer generation using animation as a medium.
