L&T INFOTECH LAUNCHES ‘UDAAN’- A COMPUTER LITERACY PROJECT FOR THE UNDERPRIVILEGED YOUTH

Opens centers in Kopar Khairane and Panvel, initiates process to identify more locations in the coming months

 

Mumbai, December XX, 2014: L&T Infotech, under its flagship Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program ‘1Step’, today announced ‘Udaan’, a computer literacy project for the underprivileged youths of Navi Mumbai and Panvel.

 

Under this program, students between the age group of 18-25 years who haven’t been able to complete their education due to various personal and financial reasons will be trained in basic computer skill free of cost in 2 batches of 10 students, 6 days a week.

 

Post completion of the three months training programme, these students will undergo a certification test to be qualified as ‘data operators’. The institute will also focus on ‘Personality Development’, ‘English Speaking’ and ‘Counseling’ classes to make them ‘employment ready’.

 

Teachers selected from the nearby community will teach these students and this training will be further supplemented by L&T Infotech volunteers during the weekends.

While, the Kopar Khairane centre is situated near railway station, the Panvel centre is in the premises of Janakalyan Sevashram at Parapund in Panvel, thus making it convenient and accessible to attract most needy youth from nearby low income localities.

 

L&T Infotech has collaborated with ‘Pratham’ and ‘Janakalyan Sevashram and Warrier Foundation’ for their computer literacy project. These non-governmental organisation (NGOs) have been working extensively with the primary objective of educating underprivileged children & youth thereby creating employment and livelihood opportunities.
