ISS advises of orange flood warning alert for Pahang and Terengganu in Peninsular Malaysia

inchcapeInchcape Shipping Services, (ISS), is advising that an orange alert warning has been issued for parts of Pahang and Terengganu in Malaysia, following severe flooding which has forced thousands of people to evacuate their homes.

The ports of Kuantan, Kemaman and Kertih and all land transport, have been affected by the flooding and crew changes are therefore likely to be affected.

The monsoon season started in Kelantan and Terengganu last month and heavy rains are therefore to be expected. However, these were made worse by a high tide causing the severe floods.

Kuantan port previously sent a monsoon circular advising of vessels berthing being restricted to daylight hours only, 0700 to 1800hrs, for the monsoon period from 01 November, 2013 – 28 February, 2014 which it advised was a safety measure during the Northeast Monsoon.
