iPhone Users Trade-in for the Samsung 9

The release of the Samsung Galaxy S9 has prompted iPhone users to trade-in their iPhone X.

Tech buy-back site Decluttr.com has reported a 173 percent increase in the number of iPhone X devices being traded in, while overall iPhone trade-ins are 30 percent higher than those of Samsung devices. Smartphone trade-ins have increased by 110 percent since the S9 announcement on February 26.

Liam Howley, CMO at Decluttr.com, comments: “With Samsung’s flagship phone for 2018 finally available, we’ve seen that many of our customers who want the latest tech are trading in their existing devices to put the money towards an upgrade. Since the S9 announcement at Mobile World Congress, we’ve seen an incredible 110 percent increase in the trade-ins of smartphones – something we’d previously only seen around Apple device launches.”

“Interestingly, there has been a bigger increase in the number of iPhone trade-ins in the past few weeks,” said Howley, “In particular, we have seen a spike in people selling their iPhone X’s to us. Delving into why customers are trading in these handsets, many users have stated that they are simply looking to move to a Samsung device for a number of reasons including the fact that they wanted a larger screen as well as a better camera- something that the S9 prides itself on.”

Apart from the iPhone X, other popular handsets currently being traded in in volumes at Decluttr are the iPhone 7, followed by the 6. The Samsung S8, and S7 trail behind, along with a small number of Huawei trade-ins to-date.

Using Decluttr.com, consumers can get an instant valuation and pre-paid shipping label making their trade-in completely free and painless.
