InnoTrans 2016: Debut for the Bus Display

·       New trade fair segment features live bus demonstrations

·       Focus on electro-mobility

innotrans2016Berlin, 16 June 2016 – From 20 to 23 September, for the first time, the upcoming InnoTrans will feature an outdoor area dedicated to showing buses, the so-called Bus Display. International bus manufacturers and the supply industry will be demonstrating their latest vehicles and charging systems to trade visitors from around the world in the Sommergarten at the centre of the Berlin Exhibition Grounds.

In addition to a static display area the Bus Display also features a demonstration course, a 500-metre circuit where trade visitors can gain an impression of vehicles under normal operating conditions.

By occupying the Sommergarten InnoTrans 2016 has taken up the last previously unused display area on the Berlin Exhibition Grounds, which means that every square metre of the grounds is now booked up. Furthermore, the Bus Display rounds off the Public Transport area, the third largest segment at InnoTrans, with a complete and effective show of products.

First Bus Display includes Solaris, Siemens, VDL, Belkommunmash, Sileo etc.

International bus manufacturers from countries including France, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Germany, Belarus and China have secured their places for the Bus Display’s debut.

“This year we will be exhibiting our latest design – an electrically operated bus which can be charged using current collectors, an induction system or by plugging into a mains socket“, says PR Director Mateusz Figaszewski of Solaris Bus & Coach S.A. from Poland. Together with Solaris, the Siemens AG Division Mobility will be exhibiting a corresponding charging system in the shape of a mobile charging point. VDL Bus & Coach bv from the Netherlands will be showcasing the Citea SLFA Electric, a fully electric articulated bus.

Target: shorter charging times and a longer range

The electric bus to be jointly displayed by OJSC Managing holding company Belkommunmash from Belarus and its Chinese partner company XINZHU Corporation Chengdu Xinzhu Road & Bridge Machinery promises shorter charging times with its use of super condensers and special energy storage cells. “The centrally located Bus Display gives us maximum exposure to trade visitors“, says Svetlana Rusak of Belkommunmash. Sileo GmbH, a company based in Salzgitter, will be exhibiting the S18, a battery-operated, articulated bus, whose range on an overnight charge is guaranteed to be 250 kilometres.

Dual mode transport from Lohr

In addition to exhibiting on the Bus Display, SA Lohr Industrie from France will be providing information about Cristal, the company’s innovative urban transport system, on its stand on the outdoor display site. “It is 100 per cent electric, economical, electronic and offers a choice of operating modes. Cristal can be operated individually or as a shuttle combining two to four vehicles for collective transport“, is how Laura Korth of Lohr explains what makes Cristal special.
