India Says a Big Thank You to its brave soldiers

An overwhelming 20,845 “Happiness Boxes” sent to armed forces

snapdealNew Delhi, 26 August, 2016: Snapdeal, India’s largest online marketplace, announced that the campaign ‘India Says Thank You’ received overwhelming response from well-wishers, with 20,845 ‘Happiness Boxes’ being sent to soldiers in the Indian Army and Navy. An initiative by 21Fools — an organization that makes plantable paper products for a better world, this campaign was supported by Snapdeal Sunshine, Snapdeal’s CSR initiative. The initiative enabled people to express their gratitude and send wishes through a ‘Happiness Box’ for soldiers, around the period of Independence Day and Rakshabandhan.

The collected ‘Happiness Boxes’ sent to various site locations advised by The Indian Army and Navy will be further distributed to the soldiers. Each Happiness Box contains a Gratitude Letter, with the sender’s name, a Thank You Seed Paper Card, A Rakhi and an ‘I Love India’ Luggage Tag.  The special Seed Paper card is infused with seeds during the pulping process and when planted can grow into different varieties of herbs and plants.

Snapdeal users had the choice to send these ‘Happiness Boxes’ for 5, 10, 25, 50,100, 250 or 500 soldiers and more than 20,845 boxes have been contributed from multiple locations in India in just seven days of the campaign. No proceeds from the initiative shall go to Snapdeal.

Speaking about the success of the initiative, Rajnish Wahi, ‎Senior Vice President – Corporate Affairs and Communications – ‎Snapdeal said, ‘India Says Thank You’ was a simple and direct way to express gratitude to our brave brothers and sisters in the armed forces who selflessly serve the nation. We are overwhelmed by how well the idea has resonated with our countrymen, and humbled to be able to play a role in conveying the emotions of thousands of Indians to our soldiers across the country.”

Divyanshu Asopa, Founder, 21 Fools, said “We ran this initiative for two consecutive years in 2012 and 2013. This year, through our partnership with Snapdeal Sunshine, we had reinitiated the idea and are humbled by the phenomenal response.”
