In January, all the fun and excitement of shopping in Paris

parisAt the beginning of January, it is a winter sales frenzy in Paris the capital of Shopping and Fashion. On this occasion, the Paris Convention and Visitors Bureau launches the 7th edition of the marketing operation ‘Shopping by Paris’. And, publishes the Paris Shopping Book 2013, a French-English bilingual guide offering six bespoke shopping itineraries. For those coming to Paris for a shopping break, Parisian tourism trade professionals, federated by the Bureau, will be offering special welcome gifts and little extras.

The Bureau launches the 2013 edition of the Paris Shopping Book:

To celebrate the New Year, the Paris Convention and Visitors Bureau has published the 2013 edition of the Paris Shopping Book, a French-English bilingual guide entirely devoted to shopping. From 1 January 2013, visitors and Parisians will be able to pick up a free copy from one of the Bureau’s five tourist information points, or download it from the parisinfo.com website all year long. 85,000 copies have been printed featuring 235 shops — renowned international and Parisian brands — including some 30 new addresses.

First published in 2009, the Paris Shopping Book offers six themed-geographic itineraries, each of which reflects a profile of shopper: Select, Trendy, Creative, Bohemian-Chic, Ethic-Ethnic and Savvy. Delightfully illustrated, it enables every shopping enthusiast to find what they are looking for according to their style and taste. Looking for timeless pieces? For the ‘Select’ shopper, The Paris Shopping Book offers upscale labels to discover in the Golden Triangle. A trendsetter? The ‘Creative’ shopper will pick out tomorrow’s brands in the Abbesses or Etienne-Marcel districts. Bargain hunters are not forgotten: shops with cut-price goods and stock outlets can be found on the ‘Savvy’ itinerary.

Little extras and welcome gifts from Parisian accommodation providers

At the same period, shopping fans can take advantage of special offers proposed by Parisian tourism trade professionals. 190 accommodation providers have little extras in store for their guests: complimentary breakfasts, upgrading, late departures, bottle of champagne or gift — each has their own way of welcoming visitors. In order to strengthen the attractiveness of the ‘capital of shopping, fashion and glamour’ to French and international visitors, the Paris Convention and Visitors Bureau has, since 2006, organized themed marketing campaigns. These events, which boost tourist numbers during a relatively low season, are supported by Paris City Council, Paris Chamber of Trade and Industry and Atout France for the promotion of the event abroad.
