Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Rajiv K. Srivastava, Director IIM Lucknow highlighted the accomplishments of the institute in the academic year 2014-2015. There is an increased focus now on research; the institute has undertaken many new internationally funded research projects. The institute is also moving towards getting globally accreditated – AMBA accreditation is already in place and the institute is in the process for getting AACSB accreditation.

Prof. Rajiv K. Srivastava told the students that he is sure that they will remember and cherish the learning experience at IIM Lucknow even though you may forget the specific moments.  During the time spent here they have gradually undergone many changes, some intellectual, some behavioural, some attitudinal. He advised the students that now that they are knowledgeable, they should take care that they do not come across as Know-it-alls, Confident, but take care that they should not cross the line and become arrogant, Articulate and Assertive, but take care that they should become aggressive and argumentative.

Prof. Srivastava urged the students to always remember the values of humility, integrity, punctuality, sincerity that IIM Lucknow has tried to inculcate, though they may not have fully appreciated some of them at the time. He asked them to remember that an elite education brings responsibility – to uphold the name of the profession and of the institution and of those who have given sweat and tears to build it; and to serve a larger cause than merely a CTC, a job or climbing up the ladder.

During the academic year 2014-15, the institute witnessed an all-round growth and in continuance with its march ahead, undertook some significant initiatives, which are listed below:

  • At IIML we understand that cutting edge research would help us in moving ahead globally. As part of this focus on research we do our best to encourage our faculty and students to contribute to this body of knowledge. There has been a constant and consistent increase in our research output with the number of papers published in top journals internationally, numbers of papers presented in Conferences in India as well as abroad, number of books published etc.
  • The Institute hosts six centres of Excellence: Business Sustainability, Innovation & Incubation, Food & Agribusiness Management, Internet Commerce Research, Leadership & Human Values, and Marketing in Emerging Economies

o    Currently 4 externally funded research projects are going on and we have recently completed 1 externally funded research project. 16 internally funded research projects are in different stages of progress

o    A research team from IIM Lucknow along with healthcare experts and researchers from Aalborg University, Denmark will study (supply chain) coordination challenges in Indian and Danish healthcare systems in a project titled “Innovative Healthcare Collaboration’ funded by the Danish Agency for Science, Technology and Innovation for a project.

o    Our Centre for Marketing in Emerging Economies organized two workshops to advance the understanding of usage and application of marketing research in emerging markets and facilitate collaboration among leading emerging markets research professionals, academicians and industry practitioners. Several papers presented in the 2014 annual conference of emerging market conference board (hosted by CMEE) have been accepted for publication in well acclaimed marketing journals

  • The continuous growth of our Executive Education Programmes over the years once again goes on to highlight the fact that  IIM Lucknow is one of the preferred destination when it comes to Executive Education by organisations in both government and corporate sector. This year we have conducted 114 such programmes with participation of around 3000 participants. Many of these programmes had significant overseas learning components.
  • Consulting is another thrust area at IIM Lucknow. 7 projects were completed and 10 new projects were initiated this year. Currently we have 24 ongoing consulting projects
