August 30th, New Delhi – Mr. Shatrughan Sinha, Mr. Uday Singh and other leading lights of the media and entertainment industry are among the featured speakers at the Indo-US Media and Entertainment Summit organized by the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce (IACC) at the Hyatt Regency Hotel here on August 28. This latest initiative of the IACC continues the rapid tempo of activity promoted by the IACC in keeping with its objective of facilitating the achievement of $500 billion in Indo-US trade as envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Barack Obama in their joint statement of October 1, 2014.

“IACC’s strategy is to foster bilateral trade between the two countries especially at the level of small and medium enterprises,” said Dr Lalit Bhasin, President of IACC’s North India Council. In the past year, IACC has unveiled a packed calendar with events in both countries. The media and entertainment summit hopes to bring to members various bilateral business opportunities in this dynamic sector.

“Media and entertainment are thriving commercial segments in India and America and offer the maximum opportunities for bilateral trade. In recognition of this, we have labeled this one-day event ‘The Soft Power Summit’ in keeping with the growing recognition that films and television are major influencers of the global standing of the two countries. We are bringing together the best and brightest minds in media and entertainment industry to discuss, debate and collaborate on the latest best practices for driving audience response”, said Mr. Sandeep Marwah, Chairman for Media and Entertainment Committee, IACC and member Executive Council.

The summit addressed a variety of crucial topics covering the media and entertainment sectors in both markets and focus on trends both India and America need to look at today to drive media and entertainment strategies for the next decade. The summit will be well-positioned to draw the attention of key IACC stakeholders including the membership, participants, policymakers, the corporate community, the diplomatic corps and the government.

“IACC has a unique position in the emerging new Indo-US economic architecture, not only in connecting with the businesses and the administrations of both countries but also in generating newer concepts and ideations to embellish the partnership. Taking this objective forward, the summit will focus on drawing attention to the vast business opportunities for small and medium businesses in India and the United States. ” said, Mr. Asoke K Laha, National President of IACC.

Besides Mr. Shatrughan Sinha and Mr. Uday Singh, the summit heard from Mr. Rahul Mittra, CEO Waves Cinema, Mr. JP Choksey, President Film Federation of India, Dr. Harsh Vardhan, Ministry of Science & Technology & Earth Sciences and Mr. T. P Aggarwal, Indian Motion Pictures Producers Association among others.

The “Soft Power Summit” aligns well with the major objective of IACC – to promote Indo-American business, trade and economic relations. IACC promotes bilateral trade, investment and technology transfer, facilitates business collaborations, joint ventures, marketing tie-ups and strategic alliances through a set of proactive business-oriented initiatives.

This was a “first-of-its-kind” summit that the IACC hopes will be a regular feature of IACC’s ongoing schedule of activities. As such, it is part of the IACC charter of enabling and facilitating the growth of the Indo-US strategic partnership articulated by President Barack Obama and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
