GVK MIAL adjudged ‘Highly Commended Airport for Marketing’ in the Asia Pacific region at the Routes Asia Marketing Awards 2017

Mumbai, April 10, 2017: GVK Mumbai International Airport Pvt. Limited (MIAL), the company that administers the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA), was recently awarded Second Place as ‘Highly Commended Airport for Marketing’ in the Asia Pacific region in the over 20 million passengers category at the Routes Asia Marketing Awards 2017, held in Okinawa, Japan. The esteemed award was presented to MIAL by the Chief Guest of the networking evening, Mr. Steven Small, Brand Director, Routes, and received by Mr. Raveen Pinto, Vice President Aero-Marketing, MIAL. The only Indian airport to be shortlisted for the award, MIAL was bestowed with the accolade in recognition of its overall strategic marketing approach to attract new airlines and new routes at CSIA.

The award follows shortly after the commencement of flight operations by Air China (Beijing), Garuda Indonesia (Jakarta), Brussels Airlines (Brussels), Rwanda Air (Kigali), Air Canada (Toronto) and Air Asia Indonesia (Bali) on their respective international routes from the Mumbai International Airport. MIAL’s efforts over the past year, whether in terms of marketing and communications activities, or the use of innovative technologies to support airlines, have successfully culminated in the addition of six new global destinations at CSIA. This recognition serves to reiterate MIAL’s commitment towards offering its passengers enhanced worldwide connectivity and becoming a key gateway to India from locations across the globe.

Not the first recognition of MIAL’s efforts on a global platform, this award comes close on the heels of the ACI Airport Service Quality Award 2017 for ‘World’s Second Best Airport’ in the over 40 million passengers category in the Asia Pacific region, and the Skytrax Award 2017 for ‘Best Airport Staff Service’, all received within the brief span of a month. These accolades are a testament to MIAL’s unswerving efforts towards providing its passengers world-class airport service quality.

Since 1997, the Routes Marketing Awards have honoured excellence in airport marketing as voted by the airline community, based on the services offered to them over the course of the year.
