flydubai celebrates three successful years of operations to Kuwait

The airline carried more than one million passengers between Dubai and Kuwait in three years

Kuwait, 07 April 2013: flydubai, Dubai’s innovative low-cost airline, celebrates its third anniversary of operations in Kuwait, reaffirming its commitment to the market.

Three years since launching operations to Kuwait, flydubai has flown more than 1 million passengers on the route and has more than tripled its capacity. The carrier launched its double daily services to Kuwait back in 2010 and today it operates eight conveniently timed flights a day.

The total number of operated flights to Kuwait increased by 62% after one year of operations, illustrating the strong demand for travel between the Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates.

Some of the figures highlighting the remarkable growth of the Kuwait-Dubai route include:

  • Passenger numbers for flydubai’s Kuwait market grew by 31% in 2012.
  • The overall market size has increased by 35% between 2009 and 2012, indicating flydubai’s role in stimulating demand by encouraging travel.
  • 84% of traffic on this route is to Dubai whilst the remaining passengers are connecting onwards to a number of destinations on flydubai’s network including Sri Lanka, Maldives, India and Georgia.

Fleet

flydubai’s fleet comprises 28 brand new Boeing 737-800 aircraft – one of the safest aircraft to take to the skies. flydubai ordered of 50 aircraft in July 2008, and the remainder will be delivered by 2016.

Passenger Experience

Innovation and choice are two key characteristics that have set the airline apart and over the past three years it has maintained high levels of service standards and operational efficiency while maintaining affordable fares.

flydubai has set new standards with its In-Flight Entertainment, becoming the first airline in the world to show movies in high definition. Passengers can choose from more than 900 hours of non-stop entertainment from the best of Hollywood including over 225 movies, 200 TV programmes and 370 music albums, at a small extra fee.

Cargo Services

flydubai launched its cargo service in Kuwait in November 2012, providing an affordable and convenient outbound cargo service in addition to the existing inbound service.

flydubai Cargo services include a fully automated warehouse storage and retrieval system with real time information and efficient transit times. The airline has also signed a number of interline agreements with carriers including Emirates, Singapore Airlines and British Airways to ship goods beyond flydubai’s passenger network, which now spans more than 50 destinations.

flydubai operates an eight daily service to Kuwait. Return fares from Kuwait to Dubai start at 54 KWD.

flydubai has a simple model where customers only pay for services they want to receive. Fares are inclusive of all taxes plus one piece of hand luggage weighing up to 7kg and one small laptop bag or handbag.  A checked in baggage or a seat with extra legroom can be booked for an extra small fee. Once on board, passengers can choose from a range of optional extras, including in-flight entertainment packages or select from the varied menu of refreshments and Duty Free items.
