flyTop European Mobile Maker Takes Accolade for Cutting-Edge Range of Handsets Delivered at Competitive Price Points

DUBAI, 11 May 2015: Top European mobile player Fly was voted as the brand with the best performing smartphones in its price category at the prestigious VAR Choice of Channel Awards 2015.

The innovative mobile maker landed the distinguished “Smartphones with Best in Price – Performance” award, demonstrating its commitment to delivering a wide range of powerful handsets at competitive prices.

The Choice of Channel (COC) Awards, held by one of the region’s most recognized industry publications VAR magazine, were announced and presented at a star-studded event at the The Oberoi in Dubai on 6 May 2015. Now in their ninth year, the COC Awards are among the most acclaimed in the regional ICT industry, as they reflect the vote of the channel.

“Winning this amazing award is recognition of just what Fly has achieved since entering the Middle East, Africa, and Turkey markets last year, and of what we are bringing to the channel – a range of devices that deliver clear customer choice at every price point,” said Nitin Sood, Managing Director, Fly MEA. “We would like to thank our GCC partner and distributor Eurostar Group for their continuous support, which has played an important role in this achievement. This past year has been an exciting journey for Fly MEA, but it’s one we have only just started. This award is just the beginning for Fly in the region.”

Fly MEA is targeting six-fold growth in 2015 as the company looks to expand its presence in the lucrative GCC and Africa markets. Having enjoyed phenomenal success in the United Arab Emirates and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Fly is further expanding its presence in Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain and Oman. After its success in Nigeria – Africa’s most populous nation – Fly is also looking to expand into Kenya, South Africa, Mozambique and other countries on the continent as well as Egypt in North Africa.

Fly’s branded offerings have proved hugely successful across all market segments it has entered, from the entry-level market to the premium segment where it launched last year the Fly Blade IQ4516 – the slimmest phone to go on sale in the region.

“This award is recognition for all the hard work our teams have put into building the Fly brand here in the region, and a testament to our commitment to continue to innovate and deliver the best possible products to our dedicated customer base,” said Abdul Jabbar Shahnawaz, Vice President, Marketing, Fly MEA. “Our aim is to provide specification rich, technologically advanced mobile phones, delivering a branded solution to customers that meets their price pointswithout compromising on quality, and we will continue this approach in 2015.”

Recent initiatives undertaken by Fly include the launch of a new range of smart phones and feature phones, and an extension of its presence in the phablet space, with the Fly Epic Note being launched after the sell-out performance of the Fly Epic.
