The first smartphone with a hardware wallet for cryptocurrencies

The launch of Just5 COINPHONE, the first mobile phone with built-in hardware wallet, secure authentication environment and cryptocurrency payments functionality, is announced at the GSMA Mobile World Congress 2018 in Barcelona today on the 1 of March.

Cryptocurrencies are becoming an integral part of our everyday lives, and payments in Bitcoin are no surprise to anyone anymore. According to blockchain.info, 9 million wallets were downloaded in 2016, and in 2017 the number reached 17 million. Decentralization, absence of middlemen, and migration of all services to mobile devices are global tendencies today. Payments with cryptocurrencies should become as easy and safe as bank card transactions.
«The age of average smartphones and banks is over,» believes Mikhail Nikolaev, the founder of Just5 company. «Quite soon software for cryptocurrency payments will become just as regular function for phones, as MP3 players are today. Currently, the safest means for cryptocurrency transactions is a cold wallet that cannot work without a laptop. However, in this scheme, the device is just another intermediary and the very essence of blockchain is getting rid of intermediaries. CoinPhone smartphones will help the users discard unnecessary devices and make cryptocurrency payments extremely simple.»

«CoinPhone smartphones will have pre-installed CoinPlace wallets allowing the user to safely store several most popular cryptocurrencies. They will also have integrated NFC system based on Google Pay and CoinPlace platform.
«CoinPlace is a multi-currency P2P platform for digital assets,» explains the company’s Head of Strategy Stanislav Teo. «It is an over-the-counter site that provides for trading of Bitcoin, Etherium, and CPL token. By May 2018 we plan to launch five more popular currencies (Bitcoin Cash, Litecoin, Etherium Classic, Dash, Tether), and until the end of 2018 — thirteen more altcoins. In the future CoinPlace will become a platform for placing and buying tokens of other ICO projects. The mission of CoinPlace is to make the world of cryptocurrencies open for mass market.»
Currently, to buy cryptocurrencies and make payments in them, one has to be registered at a stock exchange and make payments via its interface. A user should note that registration may take from several days to weeks. CoinPlace makes this process simpler. All you have to do is open an app in your smartphone, buy cryptocurrency via it or transfer the funds from your own wallets at the rate set out by your mobile network, and then make payments and transfers between the participants of the platform without any transaction costs.

The phone consists of two parts: a smartphone itself and a cold wallet that may have several security levels. Just5 is developing a line of smartphones — Coinphone Lite, Coinphone Pro, Coinphone Pro Note with 5.5″ to 6.2″ diagonal and up to IP68 protection level (including impact and water resistance). The phones will be equipped with a fingerprints scanner, face ID, NFC tag for contactless payments, and special safety software requiring the approval of the user for sending out any data. When connected to a laptop or a PC, the phone can serve as a cold wallet.
The basic version of COINPHONE will cost 99 EUR, and the top version price will amount to approximately 499 EUR. Its launch in the world markets is scheduled for late 2018 — early 2019.
The developers of CoinPhone are Just5, a telecom company and an official partner of Google, and the cryptocurrency platform CoinPlace.
Just5 has been manufacturing phones for over nine years, The company has been awarded patents, a trademark, and Effie, Reddot, and IF awards. The phones are produced at Mediatek and Foxconn facilities.

CoinPlace is the first multi-currency P2P platform for cryptocurrencies and ICO tokens in the world.
