Best Teacher in Management, Bharat Asmita National Awards 2013
Lucknow, February 5, 2013: Dr. Devi Singh, Director IIM Lucknow has been conferred with the Bharat Asmita Acharya Shrestha Award. This award for the best teacher in management was awarded to him at the Bharat Asmita National Awards 2013 held at Pune on February 3, 2013. These awards are bestowed to respectfully honour the highly distinguished and enduring contributions to the growth of our nation and in recognition of the outstanding services rendered by great Indians in their respective field. These awards have been constituted by the Maeer’s MIT School of Government, Pune. Other awardees included Dr. Ashok Tanwar, Member Parliament, Lok Sabha (Bharat Asmita Jana Pratinidhi Shrestha), Mr. Chetan Bhagat, Mr. Javed Akhtar (Bharat Asmita Jana Jagran Shrestha), Dr. Devi Prasad Shetty (Bharat Asmita Vigyaan Tantragyan Shrestha) and Mr. Sam Pitroda (Lifetime Achievement Award).
A few weeks back Dr. Singh has been recognised with life time achievement for his contribution in the field of management education by the Department of Management Studies, IIT, Delhi. He has also been conferred with Education Leadership Award at the Headlines Today National Education Awards. The award was in recognition of leadership, development and industry interface of Business school.
Never to boast about his accomplishments and achievements to the world, Dr. Singh has been committed and focused on creating Global Centre of Excellence in the field of management education. Dr. Devi Singh’s focus has always been on bringing Indian Management Education at par with its global counterparts. This focus has helped IIM Lucknow in forging alliances with top B Schools across the world. He has also been instrumental in setting up many new globally compatible Centre of Excellences– be it the Centre of Business Sustainability, Centre for Food & Agri Business Management or the Centre for Market Research in Emerging Economies. Many new programmes have also been launched in his tenure – Post Graduate Programme in Agri Business Management (second IIM to launch such a programme in India), a special General Management Programme for Defence Officers, Post Graduate Programme for Working Executives, the International Programme in Management for Executives (with a compulsory International module), the most recent Executive Fellow Programme in Management, all of them have received a strong impetus from Dr. Singh. Under the strong and capable leadership of Dr. Devi Singh, IIM Lucknow has forged ahead and has seen rotund development. He has directed the institute to its present glory and has been instrumental in the development of wide range of activities at IIM Lucknow. He has initiated and steered major institutional projects such as the building of Noida Campus – a feat which no IIM in the country had achieved.
