DLF Foundation bags the 5th Greentech CSR Awards, 2015

DLF Foundation the philanthropic arm of DLF Ltd bagged the Greentech CSR Awards, 2016 which was held in Hyderabad. The company has been bestowed upon the fifth Greentech CSR Award in the silver category for their project ‘Arogyam’. The award was conferred by Shri Kamleshwar Sharan, Chairman and CEO, Greentech Foundation and Shri S.K. Acharya, CMD, Neyveli Lignite Corporation Ltd.  Mr. Ritesh Sinha, Director, Village Cluster Development (VCD) received the award on behalf of DLF Foundation.

Project “Arogyam: Comprehensive Healthcare” has been implemented under one of the flagship programme of DLF Foundation, Village Cluster Development Programme. Arogyam is an integrated programme with curative services as well as preventive healthcare facilities. It has been implemented in 4 different clusters one each in Panchkula and Mohali and 2 clusters of Gurgaon. A cluster comprises of 3-4 different villages. Each cluster has a Primary Health Center for approx. every 15000 population. Eight Primary Health Centers are operational in the clusters. Each of the centers is operational six days a week and is well-equipped with diagnostic facilities as well. The clinic operates in an automated environment to ensure timeliness and accuracy of services. It is also augmented with multi-specialty camps every quarter to ensure that specialized treatment facilities are also provided. More than 23000 people benefited through the clinics and over 3200 people benefited through the camps this year. To further improve rural poor’s access to healthcare, especially to address emergency cases, was launched in December 2014 in two clusters in Gurgaon. Health workers as well as doctors have been equipped with the required skills and technology and have been trained to use the system. A kit with over the counter medicines, blood pressure machine, is provided. Over 600 persons have already benefited through the services of the telemedicine facility. Preventive healthcare is a major component of the project to ensure sustainable results. Intensive awareness drives were undertaken on proper nutrition, healthcare during pregnancy, anemia control etc. and fumigation drives, anti-larval sprays were also conducted to check the spread of vector borne diseases. Several tools like door-to-door campaigns, community meetings, street plays, talk shows, documentaries were used to spread awareness. As a result, 7% improvement in the malnutrition status was observed during the year. Significant decrease in the spread of vector borne diseases was also achieved.

Annual Greentech CSR Awards are given by the Greentech Foundation. The award, in its fifth year, is conferred upon companies/ organizations and their units demonstrating the highest level of commitment to corporate social responsibility activities. It aims to recognize exemplary CSR activities and systems and the evidence of their positive impact to business vitality and communities.  The award selection process comprises of 2 rounds which include qualifying in project screening round out of total number of award applications submitted and then presenting the case in front of eminent jury about the project.
