– Local manufacturing of the MX series from KraussMaffei is being positively received by Chinese customers
– European expertise, global standards, local production
– Flexible machine concepts for increased productivity in the face of increasing labor costs
(Munich/Shanghai, April 23, 2014) As part of the Chinaplas in Shanghai (April 23 to 26, hall E1, booth K41) and an open house at the production plant in Haiyan, KraussMaffei is presenting production solutions that have been specially tailored to meet the needs of Asian customers. In compliance with the globally applicable quality standards of the Group, the MX series is successfully manufactured quickly and inexpensively in Haiyan.
Fast yet tailor-made
“With the expansion of production at our existing plant in Haiyan, we will continue on the course to success that we have set in the past year in China,” says Christian Blatt, CEO of the KraussMaffei Group in China. In one new hall, in particular, machines in the MX series are manufactured for Asian customers. The local production of the MX series, based on the globally applicable quality standards from KraussMaffei, guarantees that the customer receives the highest level of quality, right from the outset. Using optimized production processes, the throughput times are shortened by almost half, which is extremely welcome news for the customers. Added to this are the time and cost advantages since, among other things, there is no need to transport items from Europe, along with a faster availability of spare parts and a service package that is tailored to meet local needs. “In this way, we can now offer our customers – especially in Asia – the same globally recognized KraussMaffei systems expertise but even faster – thus offering them added value along the entire supply chain,” emphasizes Blatt.
“Asia’s favorite”: Powerful, versatile, durable
Based on the European expertise that is rated highly across the world, the MX series, which is manufactured and assembled locally in China, is the favorite for KraussMaffei’s Asian injection molding customers. Thanks to its hydro-mechanical dual-platen clamping units, it also manages large tasks with an extremely high level of reliability. Force-flow-optimized sliding shoes and guided tiebars produce precisely parallel clamping movements with long-term tool protection. A carefully thought-out concept guarantees extremely short locking times. The MX guarantees consistent quality with a high mold output, even during rigorous continuous operation.

Numerous sectors are very interested
In addition to numerous customers from the automotive, packaging and logistics industries, the Chinese electronics group TCL has also recently opted to purchase nine MX machines: The third-largest manufacturer of televisions in the world (according to information provided by them) is planning to use the machines for the production of television casings. In addition to conventional units, the company also offers LCD and LED screens under the slogan “Continuously innovating”.

Achieve a competitive edge, flexibly
“This ability to adapt to various applications is something that more and more customers are taking advantage of, particularly in China, but also in many other countries in South-East Asia,” asserts Kun Wu, General Sales Manager for Asia at KraussMaffei. Since all machine manufacturers in plastics processing must achieve increased productivity in the face of rising labor costs, flexible machine concepts are becoming more and more important. “Added to this are our energy- and resource-saving technologies. These machines guarantee that we have the competitive edge, which improves customers’ competitiveness and opens up new lines of business for them,” says Wu. Solutions that are tailored to the customers’ particular production conditions and a competent service network guarantee a long operating time for KraussMaffei machines. “2014 got off to a promising start, which means that we will continue to participate in growing markets and further expand our presence as a system provider in Asia,” says Wu.
Insights with live demonstrations
During the Chinaplas in Shanghai, visitors can find information at the trade show booth (K41, hall E1) and at an open house held by the KraussMaffei Group (April 23 to 25): Live demonstrations will testify to the quality of several systems in various configurations, including an MX injection molding machine. The MX series combines outstanding melt quality and excellent shot weight consistency with maximum speed and an extremely high degree of precision. Construction and components that are optimized according to load case mean that the machines are durable with low maintenance costs and simple retrofitting. Users are provided with support by the intelligent and user-friendly control system. Visitors can also see the newly acquired computer-controlled tool-processing machine, which supplies platens for the MX series.
At the open house, the Reaction Process Machinery sector is also opening the gates to Chinese manufacturing. This means that visitors can see the manufacture of dryside components, in both the area of flexible foam and the area of white goods. Furthermore, two fixtures for white-goods applications and more specifically for the foaming of refrigerator cabinets can be seen. Experts from both areas are available for technical discussions. In the area of fiber-composite technologies, visitors can see various components, for example the roof module of the Roding Roadster R1, which is manufactured using the surface RTM process. The newly developed surface RTM process enables cost-effective mass production of paintable fiber-reinforced visible components for automotive construction. Paintable components are created by flow-coating the component surface produced by surface resin transfer molding with a polyurethane layer directly in the cavity, without the need for any additional intermediate steps.
