Anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore’s speech at Berlin University on 2nd June 1921

ATT2Ninety three years back on 2nd June 1921 Rabindranath Tagore gave a lecture at the Assembly Hall of Berlin’s Friedrich Wilhelm University (today’s Humboldt University of Berlin). With his speech and his concept of ‘one world’ Tagore mesmerized the audience. Tagore re-visited Germany in 1926 and in 1930, when he also met Albert Einstein.

The speech at Humboldt University of Berlin, alma mater of Consul General Rainer Schmiedchen, has been rediscovered in the University archive.
