Ambitious Industrial Policy for Telangana

telenganaWith a vision rooted in core values that promote rapid industrialization the state government of Telangana sets the wheel of growth on the fast track. Aimed to boost the state’s industrial growth and aid the sustainable economy the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Telangana, K. ChandraSekhar Rao launched ‘Telangana Industrial Policy 2015’ on 12/6/2015 here at Hyderabad International Convention Center, HICC, Telangana, INDIA.

The chief Minister, K.Chandrasekhar Rao felt,” Industrialization holds key for fostering economic growth, creating employment and ushering in prosperity to the people. It is my determination that the state of Telangana should emerge as favourite destination for national and international investments.”

Indeed diplomats, officials from 20 countries, along with Jupally Krishna Rao, Minister for Industries, Handlooms, Textiles and Sugar, Government of Telangana. G.Jagadish Reddy, Minister for Energy, Government of Telangana, K Taraka Rama Rao, state Information Technology minister and, D. Prabhakar Rao, Chairman and Managing Director, Telangana State Power Generation Corporation Limited and Arvind Kumar, Secretary, Energy, Government of Telangana graced the occasion. Reportedly 2500 industrialists, ambassadors, industry representatives, prospective investors had participated in this event.

In an effort to garner more national and international investments in industrial sector that would place the wheel of economy on the fast track, the state of Telangana had come out with its Industrial policy on Friday that seeks large scale private sector participation. Till date 14 sectors have been recognized as the thrust areas with a few more in the pipeline.

An effective industrial clearance mechanism-TS-iPASS – Telangana State Industrial Project Approval and Self-certification Syatem, T-IDEA- Telangana State Industrial Development and Entrepreneurship Advancement and T-PRIDE Telangana State for Rapid Incubation of Dalit Entrepreneurs reportedly form the core aspects in its implementation. The corner stone of this policy is zero-graft and zero-tolerance to corruption.

The frame work of the policy would be to “Innovate, Incubate and Incorporate in Telangana.” In tune to this vision an extent of 150, 000 acres of Government land is now committed with the Telangana State Industrial Investment Corporation (TSIIC ) with 27 SEZ, Special Economic Zones. A two year time-line from the day of permission accorded to set up any specific industry or a manufacturing unit.

Core Values of the Telangana state Industrial Policy:

  1. The Government regulatory framework shall facilitate industrial growth
  2. Entrepreneurs will thrive in a peaceful, secure and progressive business regulatory environment
  3. Industrial development will lead to massive creation of jobs that benefit local youth.
  4. Industrialization shall be inclusive and will facilitate social equality
  5. Benefits of Industrialization should reach marginal and socially disadvantaged sections of the state.
  6. Environment will be protected and any potential impacts shall be mitigated.

To harness the power of solar to its maximum level the state government of Telangana had come up with its ‘Telangana Solar Policy 2015’ to aid its economic development. G. Jagadish Reddy, Minister for Energy, Government of Telangana observed, “GoTS , the Government of the State of Telangana recognizes the critical role the power sector plays in the socio-economic development of the state. It is the objective of the state government to provide quality, reliable and affordable power to all in the state of Telangana.”

‘A good marketing strategy is only as good as it is implementation…’ At the outset the policy needs meticulous execution to achieve its desired goal.
