Alacero´s Regional Secretaries meet to discuss progress and new projects

alaceroAlacero-Santiago, Chile. July 3rd, 2013. On June 27th was the annual meeting of the Alacero Regional Secretaries. This meeting, held at the headquarters of the Association in Santiago of Chile, aims to review the progress of 2013 activities and submit new projects.

Among the advances made during the year highlighted the issue of China Latin America Foreign Trade 2010-2012, the on-line course for retailers which had been a big success and the Steel Framing Course, conducted jointly with the Argentine Institute of Steel. It was also noted the broad participation of students of architecture from various countries of Latin America in the 6th Alacero Steel Design Contest for Architecture Students, as well as the imminent launch of a revamped version of the Acero Latinoamericano Magazine, which will present a completely renovated editorial design in the next issue of July.

The Director General of Alacero thanked the Regional Secretaries for their collaboration in collecting data on CO2 emissions for worldsteel program, which enabled Alacero gain recognition as “Climate Action Member” for its wide contribution of data.

It was also on the agenda the progress in the organization of the upcoming Congress Alacero-54 to be held this year at The Westin Lima Hotel & Convention Center in Lima on November 10 to 12. The Secretary- General expressed its satisfaction with the high standard of the speakers and topics to be covered this year and with the success obtained in the call between exhibiting companies at ExpoAlacero and those who is registering for the event. Alacero also thanked the Organizing Committee of Peru for their assistance in the previous activities of the Congress.

The meeting ended with a round table where ideas were raised to optimize the contributions of the General Secretariat and the Regional Secretaries in order to provide a better service to its members.
