ACMA debuts at the Automechanika Birmingham 2017

 

  • 23 auto component manufacturers showcases state–of-the–art products and technologies

 

New Delhi/Birmingham, 06 June 2017: Auto Component Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA), the apex body representing the interest of Indian Auto Component Industry is leading a strong 23-member participation at Automechanika Birmingham 2017, UK’s leading exhibition for the automotive aftermarket and supply chain starting today and continuing until 8th June, 2017 at NEC, Birmingham, UK.

Some of the leading companies participating at the Automechanika Birmingham 2017 are Jamna Auto Industries Ltd., Lucas TVS, Macas Atomotive, NBC Bearings, Simco Auto Limited among others, who will be showcasing their capabilities in product categories such as springs, motors, brake lining, bearings, auto electricals, engine parts, rubber parts etc. ACMA has been able to mobilize the group participation of its members with the support of the Ministry of Commerce & Industries, Government of India.

Making its debut at the Automechanika Birmingham, Mr. Rattan Kapur, President ACMA said “With approx. £71 billion turnover and £18.9 billion value added in 2016, the UK automotive industry has become one of the key drivers of the UK economy. It accounts for 12% of total UK export of goods and invests £4 billion each year in automotive R&D. The current auto component trade between India and UK stands at USD 900 million. With the automotive industry in the UK gaining traction, the show will serve as an ideal platform to further our business linkages and explore newer opportunities.”

The three-day Automechanika Birmingham has grown by 70% this year and is hosting over 750 quality exhibitors who are showcasing the latest products and automotive technology from the aftermarket and supply chain. Several power packed seminars covering business dynamics, best practices, technical updates and live demonstrations for the aftermarket are also a part of the exhibition.

The industry, with a turnover on USD 39 billion and exports worth USD 11 billion to 160 nations, provides employment to over 3 million people. The components industry in India is a crucible of innovation and is at the forefront of quality production. It is because of the strong capabilities of the components sector that the vehicle industry in India has been able to achieve localisation levels of around 70%. The Automotive Mission Plan 2026 envisages that the component industry will scale a turnover of USD 220 billion with exports of USD 80 billion and employment of 8-10 million
