That is one of our recipes for success.”

Working in a startup can be great adventure. Businesses grow with warp-speed, new issues come up on a daily basis, and people need to be able to keep up with new environments and ever changing requirements. Startups have the power to connect people from all over the world – also inclusive of differing personality types., Everyone in the end though, deals with their daily challenges in different ways.

5 types of startup professionals – What type are you?

1.The “Challenge Lover”-Type

Daniela Campos, Regional Head of SEO, Portuguese

I am responsible for coordinating and implementing SEO strategies. Due to the volatility and high level of competition of this channel, we need to be very flexible, fast and engaged with the business. It requires hard work, long hours in the office and I often feel overwhelmed every day. Being passionate about what you’re doing is the secret.

On the other hand, working in a startup is a great adventure. Everyone is learning and there are no certainties. We take risks, very often we fail, but we learn from our errors and that is another key to our success. Working at a startup is difficult, however it can also be challenging and fun!

2.The “Cooperative Teamplayer”-Type

Gianluca Randisi, Global Head of CRM, Italian

I take care of acquiring new customers and managing the communication with the actual customers while trying to always deliver the best service and content for their needs and preferences. Every day, with the help of my team, we coordinate with 15 different country teams in order to gather relevant input for our communication activities for these countries. Moreover, we keep a constant communication flow with other departments which could have an impact on us, for instance, Product Development, IT and Business Intelligence. Having something new to create, to imagine, to improve is the fuel I need to face my job on a daily basis. It’s amazing to build a startup from scratch as you can feel the energy and the positivity of the people around you, all of whom are working in the same direction as you and working hard in order to make a dream come true.

3.The “Competitive Fast-Pace”-Type

Gerhard Trautmann, Co-Founder of CupoNation, German, Persian & Ecuadorian

We are competing in a very fast-paced environment where a single day can really make a difference. One of my main priorities is to keep an eye on market trends and technological changes. I constantly ask myself questions such as: “Which new markets should we enter? How can we improve our product portfolio? Which technological changes are relevant to us?” Thus, it is pivotal to embrace change and make it part of your company culture and develop the business accordingly fast. Our employees are our core asset. It is important to me that they clearly understand the strategic priorities of the company and it is personally extremely rewarding to work with such talented young people, who come from more than 30 nations. Perseverance, transparency, good prioritization and a hands-on approach towards problem solving is at the core of what I expect from myself and our employees on a daily basis.

4.The “Well-balanced Happiness”-Typ

Patricia Toporcov, Global Head of Savings, Brazilian

Have you ever imagined working in a company where you feel that you are doing something meaningful and, at the same time, have a perfect work-life balance? Yes, this is my dream coming true by working at CupoNation. Since the beginning of 2014, I have worked at CupoNation as a content manager and I feel like this is already another company. Businesses grow fast and product development happens at high speed. I am 32 years old and probably one of the oldest here. I am also one of the few employees with kids, and my 2 year old little princess is a top priority for me. Since the beginning, we agreed that I would leave around 4pm. I need to admit though, that at the beginning, I had some doubts if this would actually work out. Six months later I cannot complain at all! Moreover, I have had the experience of constantly learning new things and people every day. I am definitely happy being part of the CupoNation team!

5.The “Passionate Commitment”-Type

Andreea Stancu, Global Head of WL Traffic Monetization, Romanian

Online marketing campaigns are part of my typical daily work, bringing traffic to our international partner platforms and creating awareness about our couponing services. My team and I are constantly thinking of the most creative ideas and the most strategic global distribution of our messages. I am very passionate about my role and with our daily optimization, we do our best to create excellent work. International campaign management challenges us many times to mediate communication across countries, to understand the different cultural mind-sets of our customers, and the different local working styles, which in turn requires flexibility, good change management and a curious mind which is ready to learn.

What’s better than to enjoy your work in a company that truly stands out? CupoNation offers me an invaluable experience for a few reasons. Firstly, I interact with high quality people (international, young, dynamic, smart, goal-driven). Secondly, I enjoy the startup dynamic and the constant atmosphere of learning with a strong business oriented focus and a global perspective, the daily high autonomy and responsibility. Lastly, the enthusiasm and fun moments on work and off work as well as the variety of travel options and international events in a city located in the center of Europe is just amazing. I love this mix and I can recommend it to everyone!
