We all know that too much chocolate is bad for us – obesity, diabetes and all that these conditions bring with them are some of the great challenges we face in the modern world. Part of the problem is that chocolate is almost addictive, chemicals within it releasing hormones that make us feel content. With irresistible cravings for chocolate making it almost impossible for many people to address related health issues effectively, the Chocit Anticrave Band represents a revolutionary step forward.
So how can a wristband reduce cravings for chocolate? Ben Giles, MD of ScentedSilicone, the company which makes the Chocit Anti Crave Wristband explains:
“We were looking for a product to showcase our ScentedSilicone. We discovered some research carried out by St George’s Hospital in London which showed that the scent of vanilla reduces cravings for chocolate by up to 50%, and the idea to create a wristband rich in the fragrance of vanilla was born. Not only does it showcase the amazing properties of ScentedSilicone, the incredible material we’ve spent 6 years developing, but it supports people trying to lose weight.”
Ben has been working on his ScentedSilicone concept for 6 years, supported by a small team based across Wales. After an initial 2 years of groundwork, he was joined by Sid Madge, marketing and creative guru, who teamed up with Ben to develop ScentedSilicone into a completed product. Ben himself is based in the West Wales coastal town of Cardigan where he is also MD of two other unrelated businesses. A science geek at heart, the idea for ScentedSilicone grew out of Ben’s desire to make scent tangible – to capture beautiful yet expensive fragrances in a way that they would last. From developing a bespoke, odourless silicone to creating a patented micro-encapsulation process enabling the silicone to be fragranced with any scent – the process has taken time and dedication, but Ben, Sid and the team have done it!
As Ben elaborates “ScentedSilicone offers a huge range of possibilities across every industry. The Chocit Band has been designed to demonstrate the qualities of the silicone and its capacity to retain high quality fragrance cleanly for extended periods of time. We are also launching the Chocit Band on a crowdfunding platform to raise valuable capital to enable us to bring manufacturing and skills back to our community.”
The Chocit Anticrave Wristband is being prepared for launch in early 2016 on crowdfunding platform Indiegogo where people will have the opportunity to be among the first to own one of these amazing products.
