SÃO PAULO, Brazil, Aug. 11, 2014 – For the past few years, the market for business aviation in Latin America has been one of the largest in the world for both Beechcraft Corporation and Cessna Aircraft Company. Now that both companies have come together under the banner of Textron Aviation Inc., a Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) company, Latin America takes on an even greater level of importance to the world’s largest supplier of general and business aircraft and support.

The significance of the Latin American market for Textron Aviation is emphasized by its extensive 13-aircraft line-up being showcased together for the first time in Brazil at the annual Latin America Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (LABACE) at São Paulo’s Congonhas Airport Aug. 12-14. Beechcraft and Cessna will be joined at LABCE by their regional partners, TAM Aviação Executiva and Lider Aviação.

“No other aerospace company offers customers in Latin American the range of aircraft and aircraft support from Cessna and Beechcraft represented at this important event,” said Robert Gibbs, vice president, Latin America and Caribbean Sales. “Brazil remains the center of growth in Latin America but the rest of the region, from Mexico to Chile, is flexing its economic muscle and we’re seeing strong interest across our product line that matches the growth.

“To meet the increasing demand, we continue to invest in products that meet the unique requirements across Latin America, and in our customer support network that remains a cornerstone of Textron Aviation’s global reputation,” Gibbs said.

According to industry data, business aviation in Latin America has grown nearly 4 percent in the last year to more than 5,000 business turbine aircraft based in the region. The three largest markets in the region for Textron Aviation products are Brazil, Mexico  and Venezuela.

Buoyed by a dramatic increase in individual wealth in Latin America, powered chiefly by oil production, Textron Aviation companies have seen deliveries to the region rise dramatically in recent years.

“Brazil, Mexico and Venezuela also produce nearly 80 percent of Latin America’s oil, which corresponds to their reliance on business aviation to manage far-flung oil fields,” Gibbs said. “We are also seeing strong GDP growth in most other countries in the region and that is a positive indicator for our industry, and it’s why we continue to invest in new aircraft and enhanced service programs across all of our aircraft platforms.”

Textron Aviation aircraft on display this week at LABACE include the following business jets, turboprops and piston-engine aircraft: Beechcraft King Air 350ER, King Air 350i, King Air 250, King Air C90GTx, Baron G58, Bonanza G36, Cessna Citation Sovereign +, Citation XLS+, Citation CJ4, Citation M2, Grand Caravan EX, Stationair 206 and TTx.

cessnalogoWICHITA, Kan., June 23, 2014 –Cessna Aircraft Company, a subsidiary of Textron Aviation Inc., a Textron Inc. company (NYSE:TXT), announced today that the company has received European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) certification for the Citation M2 business jet, paving the way for deliveries to begin immediately. This latest certification comes just two weeks after Cessna’s receipt of EASA certification for its Citation Sovereign+.

“We have had significant interest from European customers for the Citation M2, due to its size, speed and range,” said Chris Hearne, vice president, Jets. “This aircraft can easily handle non-stop legs throughout the region such as Paris to Athens or Zürich to Moscow. This news, coupled with the recent EASA certification of the Citation Sovereign+, means that customers in Europe have more options to meet their business aviation needs within the Citation family.”

The Citation M2 has a maximum cruise speed of 404 knots true airspeed (460 miles per hour) and a range of 1,580 nautical miles. It can operate at airports with runways as short as 3,210 feet and will climb to 41,000 feet in 24 minutes. The Citation M2 is certified for single-pilot operation with room for seven passengers and features two Williams FJ44 engines.

The Citation M2’s clean cockpit design features Cessna’s proprietary Intrinzic™ flight deck powered by Garmin G3000 avionics, with high-resolution multifunction displays and split-screen capability. Touch-screen interactivity comparable to a smartphone provides pilots with precise performance information they need in a logical, familiar user interface. From the cockpit divider aft through the rear lavatory, the main passenger cabin of the Citation M2 is 58 inches wide and 11 feet long with a 5-inch dropped aisle providing a cabin height of 57 inches. Eight large windows, roomy adjustable seats and intuitive controls highlight the all-new cabin.

The Citation M2 design was driven by customer and pilot feedback. First flight of the Citation M2 prototype occurred in March 2012 and the first production unit flew in August 2013. The aircraft received Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certification in December 2013 and 23 have been delivered through the first quarter of 2014.

This announcement reflects the company’s focus on continued investment in general aviation’s most extensive product line up. New Citation products coming to market within the coming year include the Citation CJ3+, Citation X+ and Citation Latitude.

More than 6,600 Citations have been delivered to customers around the world since the first Cessna Citation business jet was put into service in 1972. Citations are the largest fleet of business jets in the world and have surpassed 30 million flight hours.

cessnalogoSHANGHAI, China, April 14, 2014 – Cessna Aircraft Company, part of the Textron Aviation segment of Textron Inc. (NYSE:TXT), announced today the company has been granted Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) certification for the Citation XLS+, clearing the way for deliveries in China later this year.

“Bringing the Cessna Citation XLS+ to China means introducing this market to the most successful business jet ever produced,” said Bill Harris, vice president, Sales, Asia and Asia Pacific. “Business owners consistently have chosen the Citation XLS+ more than any other aircraft in the light midsize category for its unparalleled combination of comfort, ease of operation and range of mission capabilities.”

CAAC certification is another step toward beginning operations at Cessna-AVIC Aircraft (Zhuhai) Co., Ltd. for final assembly and delivery of Citation XLS+ business jets to customers in China. Much of the work to establish the joint venture entity has been completed, and joint venture business license approval is anticipated from the Ministry of Commerce of China as early as summer 2014.

“As customers in China gain interest in the light jet and midsize categories, Cessna provides enticing advantages as the demonstrated leader in these segments,” said Bill Schultz, senior vice president, Business Development. “It is the right time to have proven products like the Citation XLS+ ready and available for the market. Our relationship with China Aviation Industry General Aircraft Company Ltd. (CAIGA) is about working together to identify the general aviation needs of the Chinese market and to provide Cessna products and solutions to meet those needs.”

The Citation XLS+, part of the midsize Excel/XLS family, has the largest cabin in its class (nearly 19 feet long with a dropped aisle for 68 inches of height) with seating for up to 12 passengers. It travels as fast as 441 ktas with a range of more than 1,858 nautical miles, departing from runways as short as 3,560 feet.

More than 6,600 Citations have been delivered to customers around the world since the first Cessna Citation business jet was put into service in 1972. Citations are the largest fleet of business jets in the world and have surpassed 30 million flight hours.

cessnalogoSHANGHAI, China, April 14, 2014 – Beechcraft Corporation and Cessna Aircraft Company, part of the Textron Aviation segment of Textron Inc. (NYSE:TXT), said today at the Asian Business Aviation Conference & Exhibition (ABACE) in Shanghai, China, that the companies’ product range is the widest among general aviation manufacturers and is well suited for the growing GA sector in China and in other parts of the Asia Pacific region.

“As more customers in the region begin to research aircraft and match the products to their missions, we’re confident the long history of innovation from our companies and the proven quality of the Beechcraft and Cessna brands will make our aircraft popular choices,” said Kriya Shortt, senior vice president, Sales & Marketing. “There’s no other OEM at ABACE with a broader line of aircraft solutions for this growing general aviation marketplace, and we’re proudly showcasing our unique proposition to one of the most exciting aviation sectors in the world.”

From pistons to turboprops to business jets, Beechcraft, Cessna and Hawker products have for years been in service on mainland China and throughout the region. These aircraft play an array of roles, for example personal transportation, charter operations, cargo hauling, pilot training and special missions such as aerial survey, weather modification and flight inspection.

“Beyond participation at events like ABACE and selling aircraft to operators in China and the greater Asia Pacific, we have been an active part of this dynamic region for many decades,” Shortt said. “We have business development personnel and field service reps in-country, we have invested in service and parts facilities, and we’ve developed in-country partnerships for manufacturing, service and sales.”

Beechcraft and Cessna are located in adjoining chalets at this year’s ABACE. Aircraft on static display for Beechcraft include the Bonanza G36 single-engine piston, the Baron G58 twin-engine piston, the flagship of the King Air family of twin-engine turboprops, the Beechcraft King Air 350i, along with the King Air C90GTx and Special Mission King Air 350ER. Cessna aircraft on exhibit include the Grand Caravan EX single-engine turboprop, the Citation XLS+ light midsize business jet and Citation Sovereign+ midsize business jet.

This marks the ABACE debut for Beechcraft’s piston-engine products, which both received certification from the Civil Aviation Administration of China in 2010. The Bonanza is the longest continuously produced aircraft in history, with more than 18,000 units delivered since 1947. More than 6,800 twin-engine Barons have been produced since its introduction in 1960. Also debuting at the show is Cessna’s upgraded mid-size jet, the Citation Sovereign+.

“Beechcraft and Cessna aircraft are ideal for the type of flying done in the region, offering the performance and reliability operators want along with operating efficiencies for trips to and from the most important business hubs in Asia,” Shortt said. “As the infrastructure in China continues to develop, more business leaders and entrepreneurs are learning that seeing their clients and operations on a regular basis is possible by owning business aircraft.”

The aircraft has been supplied to Hussain Ali Rashid Almoalla for use at his aviation club in the United Arab Emirates. Mr Almoalla, who also owns a Cessna Skylane and Cessna Stationair, is personally flying the Cessna Grand Caravan EX back to his home base in Abu Dhabi, a trip covering 9,000 nm.

“The Cessna Grand Caravan EX, which was announced in 2012, is synonymous with versatility,” said Christi Tannahill, senior vice president, Turboprop Aircraft. “The increased horsepower and configurable interior has resonated strongly with our customers around the world. Reaching this milestone delivery speaks to the strength of the program and the confidence our customers have in the product.”

“I am delighted to add the Cessna Grand Caravan EX to our current fleet,” said Almoalla. “The Cessna Grand Caravan EX is reliable, efficient and ideal for my needs. cessnalogoFRIEDRICHSHAFEN, Germany, April. 9, 2014 — Cessna Aircraft Company, part of the Textron Aviation segment of Textron Inc. (NYSE:TXT), is showcasing its latest aircraft to the European market at the AERO Friedrichshafen trade show in Germany this week. Aircraft on display include the Cessna Citation M2 business jet, Cessna Grand Caravan EX utility turboprop and Cessna TTx high-performance single-engine aircraft.

“We have several exciting products launching in Europe this year – we expect the Citation M2, Cessna Grand Caravan EX and Cessna TTx to all achieve European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) type certification in 2014,” said Tom Perry, vice president of sales, Europe. “Each aircraft brings distinctive capabilities to the European market and we anticipate they will be extremely popular with our customers.”

The Citation M2 has a maximum cruise speed of 400 knots true airspeed (460 miles per hour) and a range of 1,300 nautical miles. The aircraft can operate at airports with runways as short as 3,250 feet and will climb to 41,000 feet in 24 minutes.

Perry continues: “There is already significant interest in the Citation M2 from our European customers. Customer feedback has indicated a strong demand in Europe for a Citation with the size, speed and range of the Citation M2.”

The Cessna TTx is the world’s fastest certified single-engine fixed-gear aircraft. The TTx is a high-performance composite airplane designed for advanced pilots, with progressive technology and luxury interiors. The TTx is the first aircraft to be equipped with the Garmin G2000® avionics system, featuring a glass cockpit with dual 14.1-inch (35.81 cm) high-definition displays and touch screen controls.

“The TTx is a popular choice for advance single-engine pilots seeking jet-like performance,” said Brian Steele, business leader for the Cessna TTx. “The aircraft’s speed and luxury is set to be a winning combination in Europe and we look forward to introducing the TTx to the market when the aircraft receives EASA certification later this year.”

The Cessna Grand Caravan EX offers operators a 38 percent improvement in the rate of climb over the Grand Caravan. The aircraft has an appeal to “hot and high” operators in many remote parts of the world, allowing for missions in more remote, mountainous areas.

“The aircraft has shown itself to be the ideal solution for safely getting people or cargo into places other aircraft simply cannot go,” said Jeff Umscheid, business leader for the Cessna Caravan. “We anticipate the Cessna Grand Caravan EX being just as popular with European operators as with the rest of our global customer base.”

Cessna is exhibiting at AERO Friedrichshafen in Hall A3, stand 127.

cessnalogoWICHITA, Kan., Sep 26, 2013 – Cessna Aircraft Company, a Textron Inc. (NYSE:TXT) company, is today celebrating the successful completion of the wing mate on the Citation Latitude first test article. This achievement is another program milestone for the Latitude as it approaches its first prototype flight expected in the first quarter of 2014. The Latitude was announced at the National Business Aviation Association’s Business Aviation Convention and Exhibition (NBAA) in October 2011.

Terry Shriner, Cessna business leader for the Latitude, says: “It is very rewarding to see an aircraft take shape that, until now, you’ve only seen on paper, and the Latitude team is enthusiastically looking forward to the prototype’s first flight in a few months. This is an exciting project for customers as well, as the Latitude design is driven in part by customer input on performance and cabin amenities. Cessna has always been known for our dedication to the customer, and the Latitude is a perfect example of this commitment.”

Kriya Shortt, Cessna senior vice president of Sales, says: “We started with a clear vision for the Latitude – to make the widest Citation, engineered with the performance, luxury and value for which Cessna Citation jets are well known. Now we have seen the Latitude make the leap from concept to reality. This is a fantastic aircraft that will set a new standard for the mid-size category of business jets.”

The wingspan on the Latitude will be 72 ft 4 in (22.05 m), while the aircraft will measure 20 ft 11 in (6.38 m) in height. The Latitude is designed to fly two crewmembers and up to nine passengers to 43,000 ft (13,106 m) in just 23 minutes. The aircraft will have the widest cabin of any Citation jet, has a 6 ft (1.83 m) cabin height, and will be equipped with Cessna’s Clairity™ cabin management system.

Passengers on the Latitude will be able to fly non-stop between such cities as Los Angeles and New York., Houston, Texas and Bogotá, Colombia, Rome to Dubai, and Singapore to Beijing.  Visit Cessna.com to learn more about the Citation Latitude.
